Hi guys,

I missed a boat on some good once in 2020, felt bad. Sold some of the stock, right before it went up on top of that to feel even worse. Anyone have any stock investment ideas for 2021?

If Trump manages to keep his job, expect a massive short term buying opportunity at some point.

Cost averaging into US markets and international markets over time, same as always.

Biotech will do well regardless who is president (IBB at highs). ATRS has been doing well, SCYX is at a decent entry point, AKBA has run some but still cheap, CHMA and OBSV are two of the best discount buys IMO ATM, also ARAY, OPTN and SBBP. These are micro to mid caps so they are more volatile.

Hospitality, there is between 1 to 2 trillions dollars in pent up investment, when the Commies are finally sent to hell and their lingering stench is gone.

That’s a good idea.

As soon as we have an all clear in mid-late summer 2021 ... travel/entertainment venues/dining out will explode! And since a lot of places will have gone under... expect massive price inflation due to higher demand and less competition. So higher margins as well.

I am planning to avg out of my "recovery stocks" (hospitality, airliners/BA, hotels) starting Q2. I am up 50-60% on those since P3 of this year.
Other than that, I will dollar cost avg. into my favorites TMO, ILMN, Square, APPL, NIO, DIS, BABA, MSFT. TSLA has done fantastic for me but this is def. a higher risk stock for me.

I want everyone to buy WFC Wells Fargo.
I need the money.
I inherited some shares at $54 in 2017.
Please buy some WFC motherfuckers 😰

Any specific stocks you expect to buy? I’m asking for stock symbols.

I suppose by cost-averaging into the market indices (US and foreign) I will be going with all the recommendations who guys made: hospitality and WFC, etc.

Even TSLA.

But not Bitcoin. It's not an equity in a company.

Bacah,
hehe, I might have to save that one and pull it out a year from now.

I take it that the cruise line stocks are still in the shitter?

I timed it wrong with Covid for NCL, like really bad, as I didn't think they'd be shut down for the rest of the year, but I'm up 12% on that one without a single sailing happening. I'd be super cautious with cruise lines until they actually get going though, unless you like risk. Could have doubled my money if I waited another week. Oh well. Was funny money and it's still a gain.

I cannot figure out if there is a meaningful difference between speculating on single stocks versus speculating in BitCoin.

Bitcoin doesn’t produce anything. It makes no product or service. It’s a standard pyramid scheme that only sustains value by people throwing money at its speculation.

GEVO clean energy play. They are making jet fuel out of plants. The fuel burns without as much particulate matter. The unused plant material can be fed to live stock. Biden and company to support green energy. Do your do diligence.
Happy Holidays to all!

Although AAPL is near all-time highs, I think they are going to have a blow-out Christmas quarter. A bunch of products are back-ordered; it could be some part COVID disruptions of parts and manufacturing, but I think it's also huge demand.

It does consume a lot of energy, though. This article makes the case that miners are running off a surplus of Chinese hydropower capacity. YMMV.

I usually don't. Only with fun money. I'm an index fund guy with about 90% of investments. The remaining 10% I've done really well with in individual stocks. I don't get greedy though and think I'm some expert. It's money I'm okay losing as well. Side hobby I don't take all that seriously.

Bitcoin. lol. With NCL I can at least read financial statements. See if insiders are buying or selling stock. I can physically see their assets. Are they caring for their ships? Are their employees doing good work. This is all something I can personally inspect as an investor. Is it going to be a huge winner, probably not. Once they get cruising again, it's likely a safe bet long term. Still risky, but at least I'm aware of the risk.

You are really bad when it comes to making calls. I would probably stop posting it online.

Invest in what you are using... or better yet what 20 year olds are using and buying. Had I invested more money in everything I bought and used in my early 20s I would be rich.

In 2002 I did a trial of Netflix streaming DVD that only worked in PS3. I thought the content was sucky but the streaming quality was incredible for the time. I never invested but also never cancelled my subscription. I was sure Apple or blockbuster would buy them out or start their own service and make them irrelevant. What I never suspected was for them to become a movie studio of their own and make it look easy!

I also been a prime member of Amazon for 12+ years... never bought the stock because I thought the PE was too high.

Basically over thought everything ... just buy what you use and buy and likely you will be good.

Thankfully I atleast bought Apple back in 2003... just not nearly enough as I would have liked.

I’m also a very frugal and conservative spender... so also I’d consider buying aspirational items you don’t buy but see others buying. I think Tesla’s are awesome cars.... but cars are bad investments and get you from point a to b... so I drive a Honda.

But I WANT a Tesla... hence i should have bought that stock when I passed on the Tesla a few years ago. Live and learn... most people aren’t as frugal as me... so makes sense to sometimes invest in what the financially illiterate lemmings are buying.

Timming will be everything, I don't expect the cruise industry to ever get back to where it was.

I do however expect the biggest boom in ship building in modern history. The pandemic has left thousands of ships out of commission, there was a report that many have sunk, salvaged, or set adrift.

I think LUV is going to go back to its high after people start traveling again.

I also think SHOP has further to rise, though it's been way up during all this.

At what point did I even mention you? Why comment? Oh, wait, I'm in your head and it's hysterical. Kind of cute and creepy at the same time. Stick to the "currency" threads, we're talking stocks here.

LUV is probably a safe bet. They've been adding routes and destinations during bearish "feeling" times. They have confidence in a rebound otherwise they wouldn't be adding routes, they'd be cutting. I grabbed 100 shares on the Covid dump. Timed better than NCL. Both are performing though. Might sell some though. A Biden lockdown doesn't fare well wither either.

I don't get it, but I've killed it with DIS. You'd think with theme parks closed or reduced capacity it would be worse. ESPN blows. I'm up 80% though and sold the gains and am playing with house money at this point. Longer term hold. But a 80% gain sold is an 80% gain. Not paper. I'll probably just leave the rest in until retirement. Set and forget because DIS ain't going anywhere no matter how much people hate it.
