No matter your political stripes, I think all can agree that yesterday was a historic day in this countries history which no one wanted to come to pass. Because of it, I have consumed more media (MSM, Alt media, social media) in the last 18 hours than I have in the past month. And while it is important to stay "informed", I cant help but notice that I am getting agitated, unfocused and generally no doing anything to help my family, my community or my country.
Over the past few years I have concluded that consuming sooooo much media is the root of many of humanity's problems. I believe we here in the west are no different than the jihadists who after thousands of hours of bombardment of toxic media info decide to turn words into actions. Media is perhaps no different than radiation in that a small dose here and there is harmless, but over time it is cancerous and deadly.
I Sooo badly want to offer up a few "hot takes" to my extended family or friends as to the days events, but for what purpose? I am not on twitter but have searched 50+ names of various asshole who I loathe has to say about this, but why does that matter? Pretty much all of us are guilty of speaking out and then contributing to the noise that pisses off indoctrinates and radicalizes so many in the months and years to come.
So my suggestion is to take a break - see if you have the self discipline to not click, log in, or otherwise gobble down yet another toxic dose of media which feels good when you consume it, but is so costly in the long term. In times like these, I get the need to stay "informed" but believe me, if it is that "important" legacy media will break into regularly scheduled entertainment, (or in my case, living this close to the capitol, the phone in your pocket will go off with that sickening screech tone you hear for a tornado warning).

Good luck to us all.
