The nuclear football would only work if a bunch of people ahead of him agreed upon nuclear war. If the president alone tried to start WWIII without having prior authorization, I bet he'd be assassinated within 24 hours of attempting to start nuclear war.

Stop thinking we live in a republic or a democracy. Our establishment doesn't trust us, and it doesn't trust the people that are the puppets in power. "Elected" puppets have no power except on paper. They merely take orders and their job is to justify whatever they are ordered to do. That's our actual system.

When Bush Jr. was ordered to start a war in Iraq, his justification was to "protect the interests of the United States." If it was Gore, it would likely have been "for humanitarian reasons". It would have been the same result.
