They are correct because the risk is so low that the distance doesn't matter, they just spin it as a negative. 80% if not over 90% of transmissions occur in household settings and among loved ones, 2% or so are restaurants. Not even worth thinking about it. Probably 3-6 ft minimum distance is not a bad idea though if you're worried. After that the returns diminish.
