soooooooo many folks immigrate here to California and reckon their brief, narrowly focused incomplete American experience filtered through their outside perspective entitles them to "explain it all" when in fact they are clueless.

Surely you know, enclaves in California, or any other single region in our country, give an incomplete picture. Probably their American born kids will "get it", but they won't, 'cause they can't. To their folk "back home" perhaps they would seem to have some well-informed perspective. To us native folk (including, and maybe especially, - their American born kids) they are just making noise.

I think Alistair Cooke may have been exceptional in this regard.

Sufis practice Guru Yoga, it has almost nothing to do with Islam besides making Mohammed into some guru.

Religion may be, strictly, incorrect - however, it's time tested for a stable society.

"Intelligent" people seem to go out of the well warn path, but generally when you're exploring some new route, you nearly always end up with a dead end. You're not just competing against present people, you're competing against generation after generation after generation. The "new paths" you wander along might very well have been walked before, 1000 years ago, and forgotten, because they were found to be dead ends 9 centuries ago.

Religion has utility but I'm disturbed at it's abuse by the powerful. However, when you're exploring "new" ways to view and explore the world, you're doing it without any benefit of prior knowledge which has been built over millennia.
