I understand humor I think pretty well.

The trick is to lead the audience to expect one outcome, and then thrill them with an unexpected, logical explanation to another outcome.

It's to lead you down a false alley of reasoning, only to demonstrate you took a wrong turn. This is why jokes aren't as funny the second time you hear it.

For example, "a pedophile, fool and a racist walk into a bar", here you are expecting some conflict between the 3 individuals but the punchline is "what will you have President Biden?"

That's all humor is, is being drawn to an unexpected conclusion and being given one that is entirely logical and you SHOULD have been able to figure out, but didn't.

There's some sort of humor formula I simply do not understand from ApocalypseFucksNow. I'm serious when I say, I simply don't understand his humor. I don't see why anybody would laugh at it. If you explain the formula, it won't ruin it for me. I often read a synopsis of a film before I decide to watch it, that doesn't ruin it for me.

Colbert was funny when he was a liberal pretending to be a conservative. But just like AF when he dropped the act and became his true self, an angry liberal, he just became a sad thing, devoid of humor and painful to watch.
