Adults exposing themselves to children in public is supposed to be illegal and a surefire way of ending up on the sex offender registry. But it’s gotten to the point where even the cops knew better than to try enforcing the law during a state-sanctioned religious festival. Any officer who stepped in to stop the public grooming would’ve been personally and professionally destroyed, and that’s because we’re in the midst of a full-blown renormalization of society driven by the progressive Left.

As Austin Macintyre points out, this cycle of renormalization is a 4-step process:

Step one: They claim nothing is happening and accuse anyone who notices of lying.

Step two: They reluctantly acknowledge that some isolated incidents might be happening, but insist that those who cry foul are motivated by bigotry.

Step three: They admit it’s happening, but assert that most folks aren’t opposed to it and that those who make such a fuss are the real problem.

Step four: They celebrate that it’s always been happening, force people to participate, and threaten the livelihoods of anyone opposed.

It’s pretty apparent that we’re at the “Sure, maybe gay men are prancing around naked in front of kids, but it’s fine, actually” phase of the renormalization discourse. And it is a slippery slope indeed. We have every reason to believe that things will accelerate even more from this point forward. ...

DERRY, ME — In the wake of public outcry over the murderous evil clown Pennywise telling the townspeople "I'm coming for your children," the local NBC affiliate is assuring residents that the demonic creature is totally harmless and only joking.

"He's a clown, for goodness sake!" said news correspondent Jake Jacobsen. "Wild, red hair…bright red clown nose. He even gives out red balloons to kids! What harm could he possibly mean when he says he's coming for your children?"

Fear and uproar swept through town after Pennywise began enticing children and making it very clear that he would be targeting their children. "He's obviously not someone you would want your children around," said concerned Derry citizen Joseph Brock. "I saw him climbing out of a storm drain. It looked like he had blood on his clothes. Does that seem normal to anyone?"

In spite of mounting evidence that Pennywise desires to dismember and kill the children of the town, the NBC affiliate stood by its defense of the clown. "Look, everyone expresses their love for children in different ways," Jacobsen continued. "It's not our place to tell anyone how they should or should not behave toward kids. Anyone who thinks Pennywise should stay away from children is clearly just a bigot."

At publishing time, as reports came in that Pennywise had ripped off a young boy's arm and pulled him into a storm drain, NBC issued a statement that the clown was just trying to help him find shelter during a rainstorm.

California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed a controversial new law regarding judges' discretion on whether or not to add individuals to the state’s sex offender registry who have committed sodomy with minors.

Newsom signed the bill, passed by the Democratic-controlled state legislature, into law without comment on Friday, expanding the discretion granted to judges in statutory rape cases, according to ABC 7 News Los Angeles.

California law permitted judges to decide whether to place a man on the sex offender registry if he had consensual intercourse with someone 14 to 17 years old and was not more than 10 years older than the other person. However, that discretion only applied to vaginal intercourse, which LGBT advocates, including the author of the new bill signed into law Friday, argued was discriminatory toward gay men. ...

Many have criticized the bill, arguing that sex between a teenager and someone 10 years older is never consensual and should always warrant being placed on the sex offender registry.

“I cannot in my mind as a mother understand how sex between a 24-year-old and a 14-year-old could ever be consensual, how it could ever not be a registrable offense,” Democratic Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez said when the bill was being debated in the legislature. “We should never give up on this idea that children should be in no way subject to a predator.”

Several Twitter accounts belonging to conservative politicians and personalities tweeted out criticism of Newsom following his decision to sign the bill into law.

“As a parent I’m appalled that last night our governor signed a law maintaining a 24-year-old can have sex with a 14-year-old and it not be considered predatory,” San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer tweeted. “An adult who commits ANY sex act on a minor 10 years younger must be registered a sex offender. Law must be changed.”

The San Francisco Unified School District is being sued over a childhood sexual abuse claim involving a former Lowell High School teacher and counselor who died in 2018.

According to the Corsiglia, McMahon and Allard law firm in an email this week, the former teacher, Harlan Edelman, was not properly supervised by the school district and that led to the sexual abuse of a male student only identified as "John Doe."

The law firm alleged that during the 2004-2005 school year, Edelman began "grooming" Doe to gain the student's trust and sexually violate him.

"Edelman, under the guise of helping Doe raise his grades, began to give Doe rides home along with buying him meals and gifts. With school officials turning a blind-eye to Edelman's behavior, he is alleged to have abused Doe on the Lowell High School campus, including in his office and classroom," the law firm said in its email.

"Doe believed that Edelman had a lot of clout at Lowell High School and could help him achieve his academic goals. Lowell High School is one of the best high schools in the country and historically has test scores ranking among the Top 10 Public Schools in California," it said.

The student sought treatment in 2008 due to his ordeal, according to the law firm.

It noted that after his teaching stint in Lowell High School, Edelman taught at SFUSD's Academy of Arts and Sciences and was an employee of the school district until his resignation in September 2013.

The law firm also cited Edelman's arrest in a 2014 sting operation by a Mountain View undercover police officer after he arranged to meet with a 17-year-old boy on a gay website.

The former teacher pleaded guilty and was convicted of distributing or sending harmful matter that depicts a minor engaging in sexual conduct with the intent of arousing or appealing to sexual desires or for the purpose of engaging in sexual acts.
