Highest Ever U.S. Gasoline Prices Aren’t Destroying Demand

7 a gallon here
Where is 'here'?
I know gas prices hurt for everyone, but who actually pays attention? Around 10 years ago I stopped giving a shit about prices. Drive a gas guzzling SUV. I notice now that I fill $100+ if close to E, but that's once a week and doesn't really move the needle financially for us. Wife's gas is paid for by the company. We could get a minivan to be more efficient gas wise..... said no guy ever.
SUV space, comfort and towing. Can't do that with a minivan. Also, very mild off roading/camping SUV has a higher clearance on rough dirt/gravel roads.

It’s a massive disaster for low and middle income Los Angeles residents. I’m talking mostly people in the $40-80k range(no one with income lower than that should be driving a car in LA). Public transportation in LA curently is not safe or sanitary due to the explosion of homeless p...

Will it force the illegals to go back south of the border? No? So it's not that bad then.
my electric consumption went up 25% a month but my electric bill went down about $10/month on this plan.
los angeles county, various gas stations. most are close to $7, some are over $7. I live in the San Fernando Valley, this isn't a ritzy area.
For my friends in Mexico, $3.79 is still very much money to spend on this necessity.
we won't cut our cost in half by sharing (carpooling

I’m a yolo, within my means, type of guy. I run the A/C full blast when hot and crank up the heater when cold. I’ll save when it’s convenient, but will not go out of my way and try to save when it’s not.

They walk or swim. WTF do gas prices have to do with them, other than make it more expensive for border patrol (Hah!).

They walk or swim to their jobs in LA? Interesting. Walk I can understand, but what do they swim? It's not like LA had an elaborate network of canals, like Venice...
So if you live 20 miles away from your minimum wage job in the city because you can’t afford to live closer and you have to spend 2 hours of labor just to drive back and forth then fuck you. Got it.

Because you won't carpool.
Now the poors need to carpool to clean your office,
I thought this was a discussion about who would be hurt by $20 gas?

I have to ask, who disliked my comment (186). I don't really care, kind of, but seriously, what was to dislike? I get it could come across as bragging about not worrying about fuel, but outside of that, what was to dislike? Methinks someone is a minivan driver.

That's basically the Yellow Jackets in France. Pushed further and further away from the city center where their skilled trade jobs (EMT, Mechanic) are, wages frozen, but mass transit constantly hiked to moon while the retirement age is raised and benefits cut.
Macron is President because the spoiled French 68 Generation wants to be sure their pensions stay at any cost to everybody else.
You can carpool PROVIDED you live next door or very close to a co-worker

Did you live here during the BART strikes?

No, I don't think so. I got here in 2000, just in time for the big bust!
Blame the Arabs. Blame the Russians. Blame the Iranians or the Israelis. Blame India and China. Blame the oil companies, the frackers, the environmentalists, the Democrats, the Republicans. Blame Klaus Schwab, blame Biden, Trump, Hillary, Sacramento. Blame me. Doesn't change the physics nor the math.
How about paying them more to do stuff like that? Like a living wage?
