AAA Lists Most Expensive States for Gas: 9 of Top 10 Are Run by Democrats
David Hawkins March 8, 2022

According to AAA here are the most expensive states for gas as of Monday:

The American Automobile Association (AAA) has listed the top-ten most expensive states to buy gas, nine of which are run by Democrats.

According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of gas is $4.06 and rising.

The average is now 45 cents more than a week ago, 62 cents more than a month ago, and $1.30 more than a year ago.

And it promises to get worse as the West debates banning Russian oil.

AAA has released a list of the ten states with the most expensive gas prices and most are blue states.

The only red state in the top ten is Alaska, which surprisingly comes in at number 6.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said:

“There are few words to describe the unprecedented rise in gasoline prices over the last week, with massive spikes coast to coast in both gasoline and diesel prices, as oil prices jump to their highest since 2008. ...

California: $5.34
Hawaii: $4.69
Nevada: $4.59
Oregon: $4.51
Washington: $4.44
Alaska: $4.39
Illinois: $4.30
Connecticut: $4.28
New York: $4.26
Pennsylvania: $4.23

It's not Newsom.

It's the stupid Liberals that are the majority.

Yes, California is fucked because it went full retard around the early 1990s. When I say Birdbrain Newsom I imply the entire left wing electorate.

I had to redo that one and make it a patrick.net/memes (please share on other sites if you can):

I'd say late 90s, not early. In 94-96 CA still had enough collective brains left to vote for Prop 187, Prop 209 and the one with requirement to use English in public schools.

I commented before on this. Until it costs $300-500/tank to fill up my gas guzzler I really don't care. Outside of random road trips/camping, I fill up twice a month. Wife expenses all her fuel through work. Occasionally we'll throw one of my fill ups in with the expense report. YES, the owner knows and doesn't care before someone gets a stick up their ass. I've done free work for the company, built their original website and helped them up their marketing game. So nothing shady.

I would argue instead of watching gas prices, how do you increase your income? It's like welfare folks bitching about what they make and not looking for better/higher paying jobs. No one cares. You're either a criminal or too lazy. $60k low skill jobs are out there if you're not a dip shit. And if someone thinks you're attractive it's now $120k for a family. You can't make it on that you're an idiot. Life isn't hard to be middle class to upper middle class even without an education.

There's a logbook in the vehicle I purchased in 2006 where I've recorded every fuel purchase, going back to the first purchase on May 3, 2006: $3.31 per gallon.

Today I filled up at $4.80 per gallon.

Both purchases along the same stretch of discount stations in East SJ, where I always refuel except on rare long distance trips.

Annualized gasoline price inflation in East SJ since May 3, 2016:

= [ ln (4.8 / 3.31 ) ] / 17.5

= 2.1%.

Filled up at least twice already for $3.99/gal ($3.93 cash price) at a local station. So we're finally under $4.

Too many Californians moved there and screwed things up for the locals. That’s why Californians are hated in almost every state they move to

CA gas price is higher than the rest of the country because the state mandates a "special blend". Unless Californians who moved to ID made their new state mandate a "special blend" too, there is no way it's related to them.

PS. We once stopped to shop for food in Idaho Falls before a week-long RV camping trip to Yellowstone and were surprised to find food prices as high or even higher than in CA. Don't remember gas prices though - we didn't fill up there I guess. But I'm pretty sure us driving through ID didn't cause food and fuel prices to spike. :)

Actually, you probability did. You think you aren't the only tourist to drive thru there and stop and eat?

I didn't stop and eat - just loaded on groceries and went on my merry way.

200 Ways the Biden Administration and Democrats Have Made it Harder to Produce Oil & Gas

President Biden and Democrats have a plan for American energy: make it harder to produce and more expensive to purchase. Since Mr. Biden took office, his administration and its allies have taken over 200 actions deliberately designed to make it harder to produce energy here in America. A list of those actions, which includes a few high-profile actions taken in states like New York and California, appears below. A PDF of the full list is available to download here.

On January 20, 2021,

Besides canceling the Keystone XL pipeline,
President Biden restricted domestic production by issuing a moratorium on all oil and natural gas leasing activities in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
He also restored and expanded the use of the government-created social cost of carbon metric to artificially increase the regulatory costs of energy production of fossil fuels when performing analyses, as well as artificially increase the so-called “benefits” of decreasing production.
Biden continued to revoke Trump administration executive orders, including those related to the Waters of the United States rule and the Antiquities Act. The Trump-era actions decreased regulations on Federal land and expanded the ability to produce energy domestically. ...

Goes on and on. Pretty convincing.

When they see this station from CA-101 the Tesla-driving fuckbook employees will pat themselves on the back for being so smart and not needing any gasoline.

Anyway, it has 0 bearing on the upcoming election here. CA is not going red over some silly gas prices.

That image has been my point on EV's in CA. They're going to have to change that first number to fit 2 digits. Or buy new signs for $10 gas prices. Tax revenue is down on fuel. CA has constant grid issues. The breaking point is coming as the likes of Tesla hit market saturation. CA is going to get their tax money somehow or you guys will be driving on gravel roads. It's too early to target EV's, but I think 2025 some changes are a coming on how they tax them.

That will be from tolls. You know, like the Ohio Turnpike. More and more roads will become toll roads and electric and ICE will use EasyPass.

Seems you have been acclimated to think filling an 18 gallon tank for "under a $100" is cheap. Around here, during Trump's last year, filling an empty 18 gallon tank was less than $40.
546   RWSGFY   2024 Apr 23, 8:00am

We've been through this already: EV's are taxed in CA via add-on reg fee to offset the loss of gas tax revenue.

It's not that. There is usually $100 cut-off at the pump, which is annoying, so if you can fill up w/o swiping twice it registers as a positive event.🙃

Wow. Few people outside of CA would have any idea that such a cutoff issue would exist. I suppose that if one state had gas pumps that gave the user a static shock when you first lift the handle, the time you do not get that shock would also be welcomed as a positive event.

Yes, makes sense. I presume that RVs that use diesel do not have that $100 issue, as I cannot imagine that pumps that also serve Peterbilts do not routinely exceed $100 per fill.
