Hircus says
An interesting spin on a "tankless water heater" - if you goto a poor neighborhood in the tropics, you'll see many do without a water heater. Instead, they use a 110v plug in water heater that just screws in behind your showerhead. The water goes in and gets heated as it passes through internal heating coils. Granted, they dont work too well, as 110v * 15A just cant put out enough energy to raise the water temp too much. They usually get used in combo with a water saver shower head; not to save water, but by restricting the water flow rate, the water temp can be raised a few more degrees.

It's a little unsettling though to have a power cord going into your shower, especially knowing that its basically a hairdryer with water going through it. But theyre dirt cheap, and work well enough. A big part of this though is that the tropics have fairly warm tap water, so the heater doesnt need to elevate the temp too much.

Hmmmm...I am going to start a new thread on that!

...and so here we are.

Chumbolone

Noun. Pronounced: "chum'-buh-loan"
1) term originally used primarily in and around the Chicago area to describe a person who is easily tricked into doing something directly counter to their own personal self-interest; 2) since the 2008 presidential election, also applied to anyone outside the Chicago area who exhibits similar incapacity for sound judgment; 3) a person so devoid of common sense that they can be manipulated in any number of ways without having the slightest clue as to how ignorant and/or stupid they are.
Application: Originally applied to lesser-educated Caucasians of lower intelligence who tend to believe anything that government officials and the news media tell them; since the 2008 election, now also applied to better-educated and intelligent Caucasians of all ages and genders who are totally devoid of any street smarts whatsoever, as well as to members of all other races, age groups and genders who also continue to believe whatever is told to them by government and media representatives evidence to the contrary notwithstanding.

Synonym: chump, dupe, stooge, imbecile, sucker, idiot, hick, hayseed, moron, roundhead, ignoramus, dumb-ass, dip shit.
Antonym: urban street-wise denizen, intelligent well-versed voter.
Government Manipulator: "I'm doing this for you, because it's really in your best interest." Chumbolone: "Well, heck, gee wiz, OK, why didn't you just say so- just tell me what I should do."

Government Manipulator: "If you give me $20 I'll make your life much better." Chumbolone: "Well, jeez, now you're talkin'- here's $40, so you can make my life twice as good!"

It's a Spanish word chambón. Pronounced Chumbone.

My Puerto Rican friend that the clot shot killed. Was half black, used the word to describe poor black people. Not from the hood, not thugs, but black people from the country. Like share croppers or migrant agriculture workers. Oddly he used the word to say a black musician is of the same caliber as Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix and other great black musicians born in poverty in the South. In his mind they were natural great musicians from Gospel, to Soul to Rock to Blues. He would say. "Hey 'B' he plays like the Chumbones" or "This guy is a real Chumbone".

But as with many Spanish words, they mean different things to different cultures. But the Spanish dictionary says it means the same as the Chicago slang.
