I observed a flip out on another board - totally unrelated to politics - precisely because a 40-something woman was having a flip out over obesity. Where do you feel more comfortable indeed riding the subway? Is it Hong Kong, is it Singapore? Is it Shanghai, or is it New York, London or Paris? Not that there's anything wrong with the New York, London or Paris subways, but they're definitely not as pleasant an experience as you get, in Hong Kong. So first things first. What, any visitor, first time visitor to a Shanghai, a Beijing, a Hong Kong. Can't avoid seeing is how superior the public infrastructure has become. Whether you look at your public transport, whether you look at your shopping malls, take any kind of public infrastructure, the parks, the, it's it is mind-blowingly superior.

Don't know how or why anyone would take public transit. I get flights, but I'll drive or take an Uber locally if in a city. Unless it's a pub crawl on a safe train line, I ain't touching public transit. No germaphobe but it is gross even on the nicest train lines.

I think in America it's a cheap way to get drugs and party. Our culture is way different than other countries. My understanding is also that other countries, especially Asian has policing that's not more strict, but they don't have to worry about race. Commit a crime, you're arrested and you don't have to worry about media race baiting it. Arrest a black guy as a cop here and there's a chance you're the one going to jail. So they let shit go.
