Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) compared what he calls the persecution of former President Donald Trump with Latin American banana republics.

“This is shocking to Americans, but in Latin America and many of the countries around the world, here’s what happens,” Rubio told Fox News. “A group takes power. One of the first things that group does is they begin to persecute and go after their political opponents.”

“And then when the supporters of their political opponents begin to complain about it, they begin to target them and they criminalize opposition,” the Florida senator added. “And that’s what’s happening here now.”

Rubio noted that after Democrats assumed control in Washington, they have vigorously sought to prosecute Trump. The Florida Republican believes Democrats want the former president arrested immediately, if not sooner.

“The next step in this process is going to be that people who are supporters of Donald Trump or just conservatives complaining about this,” continued Rubio, “are going to begin to get labeled as potential insurrectionists and are going to begin to get harassed by law enforcement.”

Lara Trump Tipped to Fill Marco Rubio’s Senate Seat: ‘I Would Love to Serve the People of Florida’

Speculation is mounting that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis could choose Republican National Committee (RNC) Co-Chair Lara Trump to replace Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) in the U.S. Senate.

As Slay News reported, President Donald Trump has just announced that Rubio is his pick for the next secretary of state in his new administration.

Since the announcement, many have floated Trump’s daughter-in-law to fill Rubio’s seat.

Lara Trump played a key role in Republican victories during the election cycle and would make for an obvious MAGA ally in the Senate.

Amid the speculation, Lara Trump has responded, saying she “would love to serve the people of Florida.”

“This is my home state now and has been for three years,” she told Fox News host Sean Hannity during an appearance on his prime-time show.

Trump made his daughter-in-law co-chair of the RNC when he reshaped the committee earlier this year.

I think the title should have "Tapped" rather than "Tipped" but this is promising news.

Even so, it is misleading. No one was tapped for Senate at all, just someone guessing that DeSantis may pick her, just maybe.

Right, in fact it's going to be Ashley Moody:

I don't know what to think of Marco Rubio's 1000 yard stare. He used to be animated, now he's stoic and expressionless, even though he makes a lot of sense. He seems to be on board with Trump 100%. His loyalty to Trump and Vance in defense of the ruckus, was not what I expected.
He defends Trump's agenda perfectly on George Snufalulugas on ABC today.
He looks like he has seen some shit and it changed me man, stuff. Or he had a stroke, like Federman and came out tweaked and skewered against the establishment now.

Is our lil Marco a stupid cunt?

I like Rubio, so this is not a diss, but is he really that short?

C'mon, Pat. They photoshop shrunk Rubio and his podium. Rubio is 5ft 9in.

Noticed that too. Rubio was much more obviously extraverted.

Now he has Tony Montana's face after being told the drugs didn't arrive.

Was out with some friends on Monday, and one of them suggested that Rubio would be a better candidate than Vance in 2028.

I don't know much about Rubio, but I get a good impression when I hear him speak.

He's only 5'9" though, and most people prefer very tall leaders.

I hope he doesn't succumb to being someone's VP bitch and sets out the primary in 2028.
If he's in the race, he's going to have an accomplishment list in the debates, that is going to shrink every contenders dick.
He'll start off with the media claiming he has something like 4% chance to beat Ron or JD. But the next day after the debates.
He'll be polling 60%.
Unless the establishment does to him what they tried to do to Trump in 2016, where they kept all of the contenders to Trump in the race, even though none of them were polling over 2%. The debates will be over before the second one is finished.
I expect him to blow everyone out of the water on Super Tuesday and Ames Straw poll.

It’s an act. He is one of the original never Trumpers. He is an obvious liar, the most dangerous kind of liar because he appears to be serious.

I prefer Rubio and (I'll get shit for this) my executive leadership proven Governor. particularly because he can and has whipped our wimpy RINOs into stronger action on several occasions. I'm a little less enthusiastic for Vance, a one-term Senator who was a fairly milquetoast one at least in the beginning, but I do like him.

Rubio has a clear role and is killing it. Vance needs a real role, a job he's responsible for, so we can judge him.

I'd rather have too many good candidates than no good one. But realistically, nobody can really fit the Trump shoes, he's a once in a lifetime President.

What is needed is a guy who is a bit less of a showman, just because people tire of a personality after a while.
17   Tenpoundbass   2026 Jan 8, 8:55am

The guy is a class act. He could be all over X tooting his horn and touting his accomplishments.
But this is the first X post I have seen from him, and it's satire. Funnier satire than most of the cabinet members that toots their horn in their satirical digs.
