First of all, the very concept of a "hate crime" is an offense against freedom of speech and freedom of opinion. There are only crimes. "Hate crime" is a conspiracy to elevate the rights of some groups over those of others.
But of course attacking an office like that is stupid and counterproductive in any case.
Last point: maybe it was a Smollet. Hard to know.
