Other than advertisement revenue, what is benefit for Chicoms to own Tik Tok ?

Is it a tool to help weaken and dumb down future American populations ?

Is it a way for the Chicoms to gain inside info on users that it can apply such as with its exports to the USA ? So is it a marketing analysis tool for Chicom industries that export to the USA ?

I'm not sure how it can spy and gain an advantage such as listening in to a Pentagon contractor's conversation in a SCIF about top secret weapon system designs.

It can collect data on Tik Tok users that can go into a database of Americans that it may track. Perhaps that database includes info on the hacked security clearance data, so Tik Tok usage data can be used to further develop files on Americans who have security clearances.

The approach should be simple: if our shit is not allowed there - their shit is not allowed here.

Youtube is banned in Chyna, isn't it?

Big tech / big brother learns incredible amounts of things about people via phone apps. To most users, it is simply unfathomable how much can be learned and derived.

Like mentioned above, they get location data, phone #, unique id tracking numbers and locations of all wifi access points you come near, and same for bluetooth (every phone you walk near...). And timestamps for each of these things. This data allows them to see your location habits, like your daily path, what stores/locations you visit, who your friends / acquaintances are. This data can easily be combined in massive aggregates, and they can use it to make incredibly scary accurate predictions about your personality, your likes/dislikes, politics, spending/behavioral habits, and more. This data often lets them derive wh...

People could learn to develop bullshit and influence detectors and neutralize all the data collection and influencing?

It might be. Should we be like China?

I'd argue no.

The purpose of free communication isn't only to expose good ideas, but bad ones as well. Want to see a bad idea that is now popular on TikTok?

The reason that MAN is notable is that he's exposing mental illness, and doing this as himself. Should we suppress it? No, this man will go down in flames in time, and it will be archived and remembered as a mistake.

The internet is a new system which allows collective intelligence and collective learning, we're just starting to explore mental illness in it. Remember Anita Sarkessian, or Zoe Quinn? They are the same, and when somebody like them shows up again, people can easily go through their archives to find out where and how they imploded. We don't have repeat mistakes of have millions repeat the same mistakes, we can just do it once.

Censorship frustrates this. I feel badly for Dylan Mulvaney, but sacrifice one for 1000's, it's a good tradeoff.

our government only bitches about tiktok because they don’t have censorship controls there. truly faggots.

Yes, as it allows for sharing of information in a virtual environment.

It reminds me of the former discussion boards on AOL back in the 1990s. Also reminds me of bulletin board system (BBS) of 1980s.

It's not defined. That's the beauty of it.

This is just a message board, or we can call it a bulletin board. These systems have been around since the 1980s. They've been around for 40 years, do you think our asshole government can stop us from communicating?

If Patrick gives up on this, I'll take it over but I'll be worse than him. I won't have any censorship and I do NOT think censorship is a bad thing. Some things OUGHT to be censored. I have managed to get to 51 never seeing child pornography because of censorship. I never want to see that ever and I've seen some horrible shit, I which I never wanted to see and regret seeing. Some things, human beings just aren't designed to see.

Yep, those were entirely organic although the main purpose of them were to download pirated video games.

We most definitely shouldn't bend and spread in front of them. If they want our market open to them they must open their market to us. As it stands now they are allowed to pollute, steal our IP, dump their product on our markets, etc. while strongarming our companies into creating joint ventures whith their government-controlled enterpises, hand over know-how, etc. Shall we just bend over and continue taking it up the ass from Chicoms in continuation with the stupid idea from the 90s-00s that once they get prosperous they'd became a friendly democracy? It's obviously not happening ever, because fucking Commies never fucking change.

Actually, China did change. Thier original Communism has evolved into National Socialism, as in 1930s German style. The Chinese allow private ownership but maintain absolute government control. The CCP even considers Chinese to be the master race.

Meanwhile:

SCOTUS, in Tiktok vs. Garland: "The Act permits the President to grant a one-time extension of no more than 90 days with respect to the prohibitions’ 270-day effective date".
