Hawaii Senate Dem Majority Leader Gets 3 Years in Prison for Bribery

Former Senate Majority Leader J. Kalani English, 55, pleaded guilty to honest services wire fraud in February, admitting he accepted bribes from a Hawaii business owner in exchange for shaping legislation that would benefit a company involved in publicly financed cesspool conversion projects...

English “peddled the power and influence of his position as a Hawaii State Senator and Majority Leader to enrich himself and betray the trust bestowed upon him by those he was elected to serve,” U.S. prosecutors said in a sentencing memo urging the judge to send him to prison for three-and-a-half years.

The sentence, a little more than three years, must send a “stern and lasting message” that corruption of elected officials will be punished, the memo said. ...

Choy is a prolific donor, as are his immediate family members and business associates. Choy, his family members, and his employees from various companies have donated more than $356,000 to political campaigns since 2014, according to campaign finance data. Of that, Choy has contributed more than $160,000 to the elections and reelections of numerous Democrats.

Choy himself has donated to 55 campaigns — including 29 sitting lawmakers — since 2014. Money has gone to former Gov. Neil Abercrombie and current Gov. David Ige. He has most recently contributed to former Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell’s campaign for governor, and to Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi’s campaign.

"Stern and lasting message" my ass. Only life in prison will do. Singapore is a much better country than the US in this way.

“Is that a direct threat? I don’t know.” The adviser to the Belgian prime minister spoke calmly as they recounted a lobbying phone call from 2021, but the contents of the conversation are extraordinary.

The call was from a spokesperson for Janssen, the Belgian-founded pharmaceutical arm of Johnson & Johnson (J&J) that developed the company’s single-shot COVID-19 vaccine. According to the adviser, the spokesperson warned them that if Belgium supported a radical proposal made by India and South Africa at the World Trade Organization, then Janssen might rethink its vast billion-dollar research and development investments in Belgium.

https://notthebee.com/article/biden-administration-caught-attempting-to-cover-up-discovery-of-classified-documents

President Biden and his Department of Justice have been caught working together to cover up the discovery of classified documents for 68 days, keeping the bombshell from the public, according to a recent report.

The New York Times and the Washington Post, citing anonymous sources familiar with internal White House deliberations, reported that President Biden and a handful of his advisors believed they could convince officials at the Department of Justice that the incident was nothing more than a minor, good-faith mistake. The report published Friday said the Biden team's goal "was to win the trust of Justice Department investigators and demonstrate that the president and his team were cooperating fully" without ever telling the public.

They hoped the matter "could be quietly disposed of without broader implications for Mr. Biden or his presidency".

The initial discussions about how to deal with the matter last November were confined to a "tight circle" of White House advisers: the husband-and-wife pair of Bob Bauer, the President's top personal lawyer, and Anita Dunn, a White House senior adviser; Stuart F. Delery, the White House counsel; and Richard Sauber, a White House lawyer overseeing the response to investigations, according to the report.

Despite their furor over the Trump documents, the Biden advisers believed (or were willing to convince others that they believed) that the discovery of Biden's classified documents from his time as Vice President was essentially no big deal.

"They reasoned that the discovery of documents long after leaving office was not that unusual and, as long as there was no intent to violate rules on classified papers, was generally handled without conflict, so the only thing that would create legal exposure would be drawing public attention to it," NYT reported.

Meanwhile, Biden angrily deflected reporters' questions Thursday about his mishandling of the documents, which were found at his office in Washington and at his home in Wilmington, Delaware.

"We are fully cooperating, looking forward to getting this resolved quickly," the President said. "I think you're going to find there's nothing there. I have no regrets. I'm following what the lawyers have told me they want me to do. It's exactly what we're doing. There's no ‘there' there."

It is clear now that the Biden team attempted to cover up the discovery of these classified documents — after they had slammed Trump for his own classified document affair — and that their goal was to keep the public in the dark.

Covid Messed with my Psyche Big Time
But it wasn’t really “Covid” that’s been bothering me all along

For almost three years, the madness of our Covid times has gnawed at my psyche.

I now realize the true source of my mental distress had little to do with some respiratory virus.

What’s bothered me (tremendously) is my intuitive understanding that all the experts and authorities the world trusts … got everything wrong.

The truth, I quickly came to realize, doesn’t matter. Lies matter more.

As psychological breakthroughs go, this is bitter medicine.

None of this would matter except these lies happened to produce massive body counts and casualties.

The never-ending lies also produced economic carnage and required Orwellian levels of censorship, which means those trying to counter dangerous lies in the future will also be blocked, resulting in further crimes against humanity.

That is, I quickly realized none of this is likely to stop, another source of psychological distress.

It’s the experts and authorities, who possess all the power, who concocted all the false narratives.

Members of these organizations are still perceived as more virtuous and intelligent than the skeptics, who were cast as the villains, kooks, “anti-vaxxers,” “science deniers,” “conspiracy theorists” and “extremists.”

Those of us in this latter group, we’ve been told ad nauseam, represent the real threats to the world. We were and remain the Bad Guys.

It doesn’t matter that we’ve been right all along and the people we were trying to expose were wrong all along.

I do feel like I’m in a ‘Twilight Zone’ episode …
My psychological angst also grew out of a conviction that my views are almost-certainly not going to prevail in today’s New Normal. No real “justice” is likely to be dispensed. ...

Report: University of Delaware rakes in TENS OF MILLIONS of foreign dollars from China, Saudi Arabia, and other countries since launch of Biden Institute

China, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Turkey have poured millions of dollars into the University of Delaware since the school launched the Biden Institute, President Joe Biden's domestic policy think tank led by his sister, according to U.S. Department of Education records reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon.

Since the Biden Institute was established in 2017, the University of Delaware has received $6,704,250 in funding from China, $23,610,996 from Saudi Arabia, $2,513,646 from Oman and $1,673,847 from Turkey, according to data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Weird that all this money started pouring in once Biden was associated with the University. What a coincidence.

I wonder why countries like China and Saudi Arabia would want to pour money into a university that hosts an adversaries' foreign policy think tank? It couldn't be that they're using that money to influence US relations, could it?

these "misinformation" summits are the death rattles of an embattled clerisy desperate to reclaim its shattered credibility.

but it does not work like that.

doubling and tripling down on the selfsame shenanigans that got us here is not going to work.

everyone has seen this movie before.

they know the ending.

and so let me play “politics cat” and engage in “the art of the possible” here for a moment because i believe that i have a simple, straightforward proposal that could radically change the way public technocracy functions by making a simple, attainable change:

all data collected by public agencies and regulators must be wholly open to the public.

period.

that’s it. simple, sensible law that seems like it ought to be attainable.

massive reach.

no data may be siloed. you collect it, you share it. apart from anonymization to remove personally identifiable information, nothing may be withheld. ...

dear agencies:

if you are for real, you should WANT this.

i suspect many of those who work there do and are as sick of the political puppetshow dominating their workplaces as we are of dealing with it.

help us get back to doing real work.

this is how you get the right answer. this is real scientific method.

unless your goal is something other than truth, what’s the argument to deny this basic foundational aspect of truth seeking?

it’s not private data. you did not pay for it’s collection, we did.

so why can’t we see it?

something has to change. the current situation is clearly untenable.

we don’t trust you anymore and no new campaign of expert worship, credentialism, or censorship is going to change that.

if you want trust, you need to start acting trustworthy.

if you want to fight “disinformation” do it with “information.”

do it with discourse and lively, wide ranging adversarial assessment of competing hypotheses where EVERYONE and not just the anointed get the data.

Let's UNIFY Over Our Biggest Problem: CORRUPTION
It is the one place we can and should all agree. Let's start there.

It’s this simple: most of our problems stem from the corruption of our systems.

The way to fix it is to unify against this one problem.

Let’s stop all of the noise and clutter and nonsense. Let’s stop fighting over the hot button issues; and let’s focus.

Do you consider yourself somewhere in the sensible middle, but without a rational voice in the systems anymore? Us too. Let’s start there.

The problem isn’t “the other side” (unless of course you are so far one way or another that you have lost all rationality). The problem is the people corrupting our systems.

The solution is right in front of our faces. Let’s set aside all divisive talk and unify to fix this one problem together. Imagine how much easier all of the other less important problems will be to solve once we fix this infinitely important one.

Fight for Ivermectin as a COVID Treatment Exposes Outsized Power of State Medical Boards: Lawyer
Excellent article explaining the process by which medical boards harrass doctors who fail to stick to the government narrative. Epoch Times, full text article from Feb. 10, 2023

Except in nine states, medical boards act independently and have full decision-making authority regarding discipline and investigations, according to the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB).

In all but 19 states, medical board members are appointed by the state’s governor and don’t require additional confirmation. In states where separate confirmation is required, the Senate or legislature is responsible, according to FSMB.

In general, state medical boards drive the public health policies of their state. They also have the authority to investigate doctors and nurses if complaints against are lodged and can strip them of their medical license.

Consequently, according to lawyers representing doctors facing medical board investigations, many doctors and nurses are being targeted by their boards for advocating for alternative medications during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“There have been a lot of medical boards harassing physicians over ivermectin, also hydroxychloroquine. Also, some of their public statements against mask mandates and questioning the vaccine,” Andrew Schlafly, a lawyer who’s filed several lawsuits on behalf of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, told The Epoch Times.

“These medical boards, they’re not respecting First Amendment rights, not respecting the patient-physician relationship. They’ve basically been pushing the agenda of the pharmaceutical companies and the opponents of early treatment with inexpensive medications—ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, inexpensive medications known for decades to be safe.” ...

“[The medical boards] try to beat you down because they have a lot more funding than I do for legal stuff. So, you know, they’re trying to threaten and intimidate doctors to basically sit down and shut up and do the practice guidelines and be part of the narrative. Recommend boosters for everybody. I’m not. I can’t ethically stand by and do that,” Saleeby said. ...

“Medical boards know that if they discipline a physician based solely on ivermectin, that may cause political problems,” Schlafly said. Some state legislators are proponents of patients having access to ivermectin.

“So, what medical boards do instead is find the target physician who prescribes ivermectin, and they look for some other basis to discipline their physician,” Schlafly said.

“So, they go on a fishing expedition, and they’ll try to find some other graph to discipline that physician. And the real reason is they’re retaliating against the physician for using ivermectin.” ...

As to why medical boards are taking such a hardline stance against doctors who prescribe ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, Schlafly alleged that the boards’ targeting is ultimately being directed by “a handful of bureaucrats and people who are connected to Big Pharma, and people who have a certain mindset about vaccination and masks.”

“People forget, but a year ago, [President Joe Biden] ordered basically all employers having more than 100 employees to vaccinate all their employees. That was one thing. He ordered all government workers to be vaccinated. He ordered all government contractors to be vaccinated. And he ordered everyone in the military to be vaccinated. So, it’s that kind of a mindset, which is one of command and control.”

Australian Regulators Concealed Fatal Vaccine-Induced Myocarditis from the Public
Zeal to Push COVID-19 Immunization Program Risked More Lives

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) led by Dr. John Skerritt, MD, PhD, has been the face of regulatory decisions for Australia during the pandemic crisis. This week in an explosive set of public lectures, crowded halls filled with thousands of Australians learned from Dr. Melissa McCann, BPharm, MBBS, FRACGP, who also holds a Graduate Certificate of Allergic Disease, that Skerritt and the TGA had determined that several young previously healthy children died of COVID-19 vaccine induced myocarditis. Redacted letters from the TGA to McCann indicated these facts and an admission of willful concealment.

I'm sure it was a "plato o plomo" situation for Skerritt, but that does not excuse him.

Australia’s Drug Regulator Covered Up Child Vaccine Deaths to ‘Maintain Public Confidence’

Australia’s drug regulator has been caught covering up the number of children who died after receiving Covid vaccines, according to reports.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Australia’s equivalent to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), kept the deaths hidden to “maintain public confidence” in the vaccines, it has been revealed.

The hidden deaths include two children, seven and nine years old, who both suffered fatal cardiac arrests.

The TGA assessed that those child deaths were causally linked to Covid vaccination.

The revelations come in documents obtained under a Freedom of Information (FOI) request by Dr. Melissa McCann.

Did Dr. Paul Offit really debate on the side of ignoring natural immunity for the purposes of vaccine mandates, while he personally believed the opposite?

So in today’s Rumble Stream, Ryan and I went through the evidence—and showed beyond a reasonable doubt—that yes, he did. It’s quite stunning to hear: a clear example of public health doublespeak, where someone will stand up in public, argue vociferously for one position, while actively advising the opposite in private. I strongly believe we need to be documenting all these examples so that we never forget the power of bureaucracies to mislead us. ...

In this clip, Paul Offit describes how he and another person advised in favor of accepting natural immunity, while two others voted against it. ...

So while in the summer of 2021, he privately voted in favor of natural immunity counting as a vaccine equivalent for the purposes of mandates, in the fall, he publicly argued against his own vote. ...

The obvious explanation is that Dr. Offit was simply talking up the company line. He delivered the unified message all public health officers were expected to deliver: that public health was wise and correct in its judgements, and that those deviating had to be subjugated, even if he privately disagreed with the very argument he was publicly making.

Lol, so true! Reminds of when I went into the San Mateo County records office and asked to see a list of all recent house sale prices. They gave me a pencil and said I could sit at a terminal and look up properties I had the address for already.

I objected, "But this is public data!"

The answer was that I could sit there with the pencil and write things down, or not. And then someone quietly told me that the office was staffed entirely by Realtors(TM) who watch that data for their own personal profit and they were not about to let just anyone see it. They had those government jobs solely to help their private careers as realtors.

Granted, that was about 15 years ago, but I don't think the basic principle has changed. Government runs for the benefit of government employees, not for you.

Besides being reactionary in its obsession with race and sexual identity, “woke” Hollywood just isn’t fun (or entertaining) anymore.

Even less fun for all of us was COVID-19, but for Hollywood, it was especially inconvenient because of the stringent California laws that the studios took to with alacrity. You had no career without mRNA certification. You were supposed to be vaccinated just to get on the studio lot.

The phone call I mentioned above was with a person who works in the entertainment industry and said they obtained—through connections—vaccination record cards for use by major Hollywood celebrities and others.

These aren’t counterfeits, but actual cards purloined from a hospital pharmacy where the vaccines were sold and included batch numbers but without names attached. In essence, they were contraband. ...

My interlocutor says they began selling the cards in early April 2021. Between then and early October 2021, calls were apparently coming in every day for contraband cards. ...

The celebrities for whom this person made these counterfeits were almost uniformly liberals or progressives, at least publicly. In other words, if you asked them, they supported mandates, masks, and so forth, sometimes adamantly. Behind the scenes was another matter.

The stories this person told me were amusing, nauseating, and, in some sense, edifying all at once. We’ve long known that Hollywood types are some of the most hypocritical people on the planet—living large while endlessly lecturing the little folk on climate and the rest—but this may take the proverbial cake.

Many of this person’s clients, I was told, were well aware of details of the growing concerns about potential side effects of the vaccines—particularly in the reproductive area. Not surprisingly then, the person estimated that 90 percent of the clients were female.

Under the title “43-Year Secret of Sabotage: Mission to Subvert Carter is Revealed,” Peter Baker reports the eleventh-hour revelation, by Texas pol Ben Barnes (a Democrat), that, in the 1980 presidential race, Team Reagan, fearing that Jimmy Carter might somehow succeed in freeing the Americans held hostage in Iran (an “October Surprise” that would ensure his re-election), covertly—and illegally—convinced Iran to keep the hostages locked up until Election Day, by promising to arm Iran with missiles (shipped through Israel).

In fact, the hostages were held for months beyond Election Day—specifically, until January 20, 1981, when Reagan was inaugurated with much lavish pomp (by deliberate contrast with Carter’s no-frills entry into office four years earlier, he being the first new president to walk to the White House from the Capitol). The moment stirred excitement for two reasons: Reagan’s installation, and the hostages’ release just hours before. Those two events were pointedly commingled by the media, the networks cutting back and forth between the ceremonial in Washington and the hostages’ air journey home, and the print press following suit, so that the two “dramas” seemed to be related—not (of course) as they really were related, but in a way less rational, and far more flattering to Reagan’s image. When the hostages’ plane finally landed minutes after Reagan’s speech, it seemed as if they had been freed because he was now president—a propaganda masterstroke suggesting that Team Reagan had arranged that most propitious timing with the Revolutionary Guards.
