Here I will collect bold predictions so we can see what came true and what didn't.

It goes without saying that everybody is welcome to add their favorite predictions.

By 2060 the population in China will fall below 500,000,000.

Shorter term prediction - in 5 years, pureblood (non-vaxxed sperm) will be worth its weight in tritium.

've got a kid who will either enter the skilled trades or college in 2 years. Now, I think white collar is totally tapped out. Blue collar is Amazon warehouse labor. The highly skilled trades are where it's at, especially if you've got boys. Teach them how to manage money and invest on the side, and they'll be golden in 5 years.

This. If I had kids in high school now I'd want them to go into the trades and eventually start their own company doing a trade.

Don't clutch your pearls. The appellate Court ruled that the tariffs are still intact while under appeal. This gives the heads up that Trump's gonna win.

Kellogg praised Trump for his willingness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and said U.S. President Joe Biden's refusal to work with Putin was his "biggest mistake." He said Trump would work to find a resolution satisfactory to both Putin and President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"I think they're going to come to a solvable solution in the near term. ... Let's set it at 100 days," he said.

Check back on Apr 30?

May 30? Nope again.

I think Trump bloviated on the Ukraine war ending. Ukraine and Russia are led by crazy people that will try to keep this going. Biden is ultimately the guy to blame and Obama. A negotiation could have started before the war. Alaska, Louisiana Purchase, etc were done without a war.

Russia could have bought the land from the word go and we could have sent Ukraine aid to keep the situation stable and not for weapons. We now know that Biden wasn't in charge.

Trump was kind of stupid for saying he'd end it, but he's a politician now and they overpromise. If the war does end in 2025, I'd still call it a victory. Not that it matters since he's a lame duck. I basically think 95% don't think or care about the war. As with anything it's the vocal minority that draws the attention at first. I think that's over now.

Russians don't buy, they steal. Try cracking open a Russian history book sometime.

They tend to pay for in Blood though.

Yep, he was full of shit and he finally admitted his impotence today in the "hockey" comment.

(Why does he keep referring to hockey - was he ever a hockey guy?)

Overpay.

According to Finster at financology.net, gold to bounce around for the next few years, but end the decade > $5000. Sic transit gloria dollar (@Patrick will have to correct my Latin declension - internet search is useless AI bullshit at this point).
485   Patrick   2025 Jun 5, 4:41pm

By analogy, I think it should be sic transit gloria dollari.

Gold doesn't go up, the dollar just goes down.

Just like historically a silver quarter is equivalent in price to a gallon of gasoline.

Generally. an average pullback in the price of gold from its high is about 40% in dollar terms.
The period of 1980-2000 was a real bummer to be investing in gold as it went down 75% over the course of a couple of decades.
Being right with the timing is everything.
