You may know by now that the FDA has some pretty strict guidelines for gay men when it comes to donating blood.

Specific criteria for men who have sex with men (MSM) was created due to the higher rates transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases amongst gay and bisexual males. As a result, men are restricted from donating if they have had sex with another man within a 3-month period.

This criteria makes perfect sense if you're a scientist. It's just a safety precaution to keep the blood supply from being polluted with HIV/AIDS.
