It’s no secret that very little (if anything) the Canadian Government does actually originates organically from within this country. Typically, some international body or N.G.O. is responsible for setting it in motion. And efforts to combat misinformation online are no exception.

Activities like the Digital Citizen Initiative and Digital Citizen Contribution Program understandably raise questions. In a free and open society, should the Government be attempting to influence and manipulate public opinion on important topics? Why are we paying for this? And does this sort of thing end up doing an end run around democracy? (Not that we really have one)

Is advancing international cyber norms something Ottawa should be involved with? (See original)

All of that said, a more basic question needs to be asked:

Pretty much anyone flaming you on a Alt Right news article comments section, is a fucking fed, I would bet all on that. Real Libby voters and RINOs wouldn't be caught dead at those news sites, they've been conditioned to feel dirty if they even as much as look at the home page.
I call them out on it, every time they try, and they fold and run away. Number one they don't want their cover blown. I'm sure every online forum that is free is full of fake accounts and opinion influencers. Only reason there aren't any here, is because not that many of us here.

Already seen videos, government employees did say they've worked with all those companies to build collaborative censorship tools to promote or to kill opinions and accounts. And looks like those were used against us during election and covid after. Fucked up, don't see it getting regulated by those who benefit from it.
