Maybe there is a lot of incompetence within the military as it has been weakened over the last 5 to 10 years ? Perhaps its standards have dropped a lot ?

One lesson is that the kibbutz relied a lot on the local military bases and police stations. Hamas sent is most seasoned to target the bases and stations. So the kibbutz should have had each adult at least with a 9 mm handgun. Its about self defense as you can't rely on the police all the time.

Turns out that image was a PR bullshit. All these little kibutz towns had was some local resident militia types with weapons locked away in some storage room. They did have fences and gated entrances but these were easily defeated by ambushing residents coming home in their cars.

?? That makes no sense. If a Semitic Jew marries a local (German, say), then the male and female children of that couple have both Semitic and German genes.
