I bet with a little journalism and sleuthing, my hunch would be proven right. I would bet anything that Jury pool were not summonsed from a Jury duty mailer.

People playing dress up like folks at the Renaissance festivals. The Fed Glowies that dress up as the Patriot front are LARPers.

It goes beyond that. LARP also refers to people that are "members of the Church of the SubGenius". Ever seen this?

That's the prophet of the Church of the SubGenius. If you talked to a "member" of it, they would swear up and down they entirely believed in this as a religion. I knew "pastors" of it. It's entirely a joke religion, but the joke is, you can't break character. I think part of this was a reaction to Scientology which is equally ridiculous, but people seriously believed in it at the time. This was a 1990's thing, the Church of Discordia was similar but I think some of them were serious. We had the Druid religion too - that religion was wiped out by the Inquisition but you still had people saying they followed it.

It's not only a weekend thing where people play pretend, LARP can refer to people being actively and subtly subversive.
