Its no benefit at all, and it just galvanizes the Russian public more. So anyone who is not strongly for the war, will feel compelled to increase their support for the war.

It would be better to take out infrastructure like a fuel farm used by the Russian army or a barrack in eastern Ukraine occupied by Russian military officers. These attacks provide a better return on investment.
