I have a 4.75 GB file of a wedding that I shot with my phone. Need to send it to the groom. Tried gmailing it through Google Drive, didn't work. Do you know of any other option?

There was a professional videographer at the wedding. He did shoot and provide a video to the groom but he deleted the original audio and substituted it with some music. The original audio is what provides meaning to the event, so why remove it, doesn't make sense to me. My amateur video has the original audio.

YouTube...you can make it private and there are ways to download the audio.

My kid is a university student. He backs up his laptop to Microsoft One Drive account. I didnt think about this option.

Put it into your Google Photos account.

Then, "share" "create link" then send email to him with the link into your google photos.

Some people like Dropbox for similar uses.

Put it on an 8 GB USB thumb drive and mail it in a small padded box.

If you want to give it to me, I can make it available for a period of time. I'll give you a download option, and provide a link. I'll keep it up for 30 days.

I am working on this problem right now. My solution is a $100 box, that acts as a server, you need code on any device to access it, unlimited data sizes and no configuration. Internal to your home, it will be accessible via Samba (a network share) or HTTPS, as well as the "non-conventional way".

Patrick has my true email address, and I give him permission to give you mine. I will send you a link, that will allow you to upload anything and make the same available for download. I do NOT read my email often. Respond here, so I know you are trying to contact me.

The solution I'm offering is a download option from HTTPS. You realize, you can just mail a USB stick as well. 5GB isn't that big anymore.

There's no such thing as private with a corporation. Anything you want to keep private, keep off Facebook, Google, Youtube, and Twitter. They lie constantly about their policies, then they will gaslight you if you catch them lying about their policies. Facebook consistently used family photographs to sell products, they are complete scum, and don't believe for a second "they didn't know". They are a garbage corporation with a criminal as their CEO.

I know this is not useful on phone but in case if Linux or Mac can be used, make it into few chunks, send them and merge them back.

I have cloud storage where I keep my stash of hacked blackmail material. Do you want to upload that there....in the same folder where I keep your tax returns?

This sounds like a reliable option. Does anyone know who makes reliable thumb drives or they all the same?

Yes, if my kid is not successful in getting the file over through Microsoft OneDrive account. Thank you very much.

Use a temp storage service from a company with morals you agree with. Mega is a good option. I've shared a document here before using a temp storage site.

If video file, split it into 5 parts. Send 5 parts separately

@gabbar

I can just set it up here. If somebody, somewhere has the file, I can just give you a link to upload it on my server, BUT to protect YOUR privacy, I'll put a password and username on it.

I'll clear up some room on my computer. The amount of crap I've collected is impressive.

I would recommend you zip it, and put a password on it as well. Do NOT put anything illegal or fucked up in it, please, not even as a joke. The passwords on zip files are NOT strong, and if I wanted to, I can break it, anybody can.

They are all the same, and they are cheap.

@gabbar - if you want, I just setup a location, but to secure it I need you to use A PASSWORD (just make something up). Go to this site (which I do not control), and type in some password:

https://hostingcanada.org/htpasswd-generator/

Enter a username, and a password, and it will generate a one line hash - I need that hash. SHA1 (even though they say it's insecure - is PLENTY secure).

It will generate a line in a grey box above "username", I need that line - just copy it here, then I will give you the website once it is secured.

I cannot take the hash to get back to your plaintext password, but also, do NOT use a password you typically use. Make up something new, and throwaway, and please don't use something really easy like "password" or something. Something like "Eat@nApple0rabe&r!" is basically unbreakable but don't use that of course. You probably have a notepad, or a text editor, be creative.

You can also give me multiple usernames, and multiple passwords.

@gabbar - I need the hash.

Whatever password you use, I cannot use it to get back to the password, HOWEVER, do not use a password important to you. Pick up a pen and paper and write down some random bullshit.

I can store the data, for 30 days. I have a GB internet connection. When you upload it, it may take hours - I've modified my service not to time out. When it's downloaded, it may take hours - it will not effect my internet connection noticeably.

I need that hash though.

Use a new, unique password unconnected to any existing account.

Once I have the hash for your password, I can give you access, and you can use multiple username/password pairs.

Again, you may want to encrypt the file, as a super user on this computer, I can access anything. If you upload anything to my machine, I can access it. I suggest a zip file with a password, but that's breakable, although I won't try.
