Decided that it's not safe to use my real name on everything, since the echo chamber has indeed clearly become "extreme and authoritarian" in suppressing diversity of viewpoints, as James Damore so aptly put it before he was proven right by the extreme and authoritarian response to that, lol. Recent example of my own:

Sorry to do this, but I'm actually going to have to rescind my offer to kick off our interview process. There's no doubt you're a strong engineer, but I just took a few moments to peruse through your patrick.net site and I'm afraid some of the views and opinions you've expressed are in contradiction to our company's core values.

Sorry about the mixup,
Jesse

Hey Patrick, great to meet you. I hear you're looking for some solid Node work. That's awesome, we're big js fans over here. Do you have time for a call, or to swing by the office sometime early next week? Whatever is easiest for you. Looking forward to it!

This seems to violate California labor law sections 1101 and 98.6(c)(1), which protect even job applicants from discrimination based on political views expressed on their own time. I filed a complaint with the CA labor board, and wrote all of the VC's that fund Buildingconnected.com, pointing out that Buildingconnected.com is explicitly rejecting strong engineers based on politics alone.

Yes, I could have gotten a better deal on a house in 2009 than I could get now, but neither of those times made sense for me to buy, since my rental deal was still far better at both times.

Not surprising at all. In SV being honest about your views can literally cost you a job.

This is absolutely true. It certainly cost me at least one job, and I'm hardly extreme in my opinions.

Here's proof:

You could also add their IP to the end of their normal screen name so people can connect the Anons to their regular screen name, since the Anons have their IP as part of their name.

That's true, but I have to use at least one alias to remain employed.

I can see the need for alt accounts ever since this: /post/1309245?0#comment-1436332

Trump has a point. Evidence for Twitter’s self-proclaimed political neutrality is meagre. Those enlisted to moderate content are overwhelmingly left-leaning and supportive of intersectionality and social-justice activism. In his book The Madness of Crowds, Douglas Murray notes that this bias is reflected even in the selection criteria for employees. Companies test applicants in order ‘to weed out anyone with the wrong ideological inclinations’.

I know this is true from personal experience.

6   Patrick   2023 Aug 7, 3:58pm

Try Elon, even if it wasn't twatter, it's a free speech site, so same goal, maybe he'll help you with his funds

True and he occasionally talked smack and was knowledgeable, so I don't know why he didn't sue as his case was egregious and they violated his pronouns

Do any of you want to work among morons that are more worried about your political views than your ability to do your fucking job?

I am watching MAJOR CORPORATIONS fail because of political ideology. I'm telling you https://www.yandex.com/ is a more useful search site than https://www.google.com/ is - and google is 6 miles from where I live. Yandex has a TINY percentage of the workforce of Google, but they're better for search.

You can frustrate economics but you cannot stop it. If a nation tries to stop it, they are over-taken by other nations and EVERYBODY is worse off. The rich in the USSR were driving around in 1950's cars in 1980s. The RICH had a TELEVISION - oh wow, what I had as a kid. Some of them even had a washer and dryer! These idiots are afraid of upstarts over-taking them, and I'm like "aren't you happy with what you have?" They want to keep people down, they want to be "the top" even if their life is awesome now, they need to have other people's lives be worse otherwise, they are unhappy. They're crazy.

Life is so insanely easy today compared to 100 years ago, the people on top need their supposed superiority. They are afraid of losing that social status. It's high school in a nation. We all live better than our great great grandparents did, and I don't give a shit how wealthy they were.

Probably not, but Patrick has a family and this was likely a financial hit for him as he turned down other offers. Patnetters are likely amongst the least litigious people on this planet, but you don't want people to get away with murder, right?

I've given up a lot just to be insisting I can be allowed to think.

I have 10 people placing me on ignore, and I have nobody on that list. I've quit jobs because I was asked to violate NDA's, I gave been asked several times to break basic ethics for work.

I no longer have sympathy for the cattle and I used to be a vegetarian. The cattle are a threat to us. I'm fed up trying to lead the herd to water and if they kill me out of their ignorance, so be it. I tried trying to save them, but I'm not selling out. I'm not going to work with the murderers and killers. If I can't convert them, I'll die. I mean that. I'm fed up with this. I'm not going to be forced to make a decision between two awful choices.

We see it all the time. Iraq bad, Hussein good. Assad bad, Assad good. Trust the science, be an awful person that through selfishness will kill grandma. I'm fed up with this. I really do not see most people as cognizant at this point. If our news media said Jews were a dangerous threat to other people, 70% of our society would be fine with putting them in concentration camps. The unvaccinated are a threat to the vaccinated. This is stupid, but 70% of people believe it.

They are cattle. They aren't human or I'm not human.

I was fired for what amounted to politics(refusing to disclose my jab status). The last place I worked where we could freely discuss different ideas was in 2019, and it was a small office where we all knew each other, which made a big difference.

100% agree with rickwicks, the goal for all of us should be to work at a place with people who share our morals. The company I'm currently at is much closer than my last one. Corporate still pushes the DEI and perversion shit, but I get a strong impression most of the people at the company don't hold those beliefs.

I was almost canned for the same thing. I told my boss - I'll personally sue anyone involved in this because it's illegal. At the last minute the company backed off. To this day I say to other coworkers that when the time comes, I will denounce the people involved with that shit. No forgiveness without atonement.

Now it seems everyone is finally following HIPPA - I can't ask about medical billing for my wife without her consent. I always mention how glad I am that they are following the law now, but how disappointed I was that they thought it was OK to publicly disclose vax status during the scamdemic.

.

This is problematic in blue states like California and cities like Portland, Oregon.

Its a cult mindset, very much group think as far as Woke ideology. Hysteria and reprisals are commonplace in that environment.
