No snowflake treatment. No helicoptering from robotics club to therapist to wiffle ball league. Harder to find a torn off page from a Playboy and pay some kid's older brother $5 for it, than to go find an actual chick to feel up. We were the first generation to break out of the television / mass media matrix, and the last generation to escape all the federal mind control bullshit in primary school.

I was subjected to both, but not to the degree the current generation is so I could leave Plato's Cave.

Also Dad would tell son once or twice firmly to behave when tantruming, or even when showing bad manners at the table. If not followed you got smacked and then behaved. The result? From 2 1/2 to 3 year old on you were perfectly able to hang with family and friends in restaurants and other events, without throwing food at the servers or screaming at the top of your lungs so nobody can enjoy their time. Nowadays 10 year olds can't behave, let alone have a one minute conversation with an adult.Gen X FTW!
