No wonder the Cop's body cam was conveniently turned off. PROOF that Scheffler did absolutely NOTHING to warrant an arrest!

There are a LOT of good, honest cops out there. But, when they are bad, they can be REALLY bad, and there's not a whole lot you can do about it if you are on the receiving end. Personally, I'm in complete favor of body cams, and cops that conveniently have them turned off should be given a very heft fine, along with possible suspension or even expulsion from the force.

First problem is Louisville. That place is a shit hole even if at a golf course. I think per capita murder wise it's up there in the top 10 or even 5 I believe.

The cop clearly seems to be lying, but for a special event like this, it might have been out his normal beat as overtime or extra work. So who knows what that cop sees on a daily basis. If you pull out of the traffic and just start going for the non-public entrance, that raises a red flag.

Cops see some weird shit. An employee of my wife's client got hit by a car and split into 3 pieces doing their job (yes the body). It was brutal I guess. Cops are almost always first on scene. They see the worst of the worst. So sometimes they can overreact in situations. Not an excuse, but if Scheffler wasn't impatient or he got there on time, nothing would have happened to even interact with police.

Clearly lying about being dragged is BS. But again you have to adult at some point. If you have to be somewhere, especially an event like you go to every weekend for golf, you know there's going to be traffic. Sounds like an egotistical golfer (they are) and a cop that may have freaked out and then lied because it was a pro golfer. Outside of John Daly, pro golfers are ass holes 9 out of 10 times. So who knows what really happened. Obviously the body cam should have been on. I just think both are at fault from what I've seen and read on it.

I wonder if the charges will be thrown out and the cop fired.

Now imagine if Scheffler were black, and the cop, white.

WookieMan says

Completely incorrect. The accident caused a major delay across then entire area. Some golfers had to walk through the course itself to get to the clubhouse. All this was well documented. He was not impatient or rude, and standing policy is that in all previous situations with traffic, the golfers were waved through. I was following the tournament and there were many pros that stated that they did the same as Sheffler minutes before and after and were waved through without incident. Even the reporters on the scene were stunned.

When we continue to excuse a cop's bad behavior, then it just leads to distrust. The usual "both are at fault" is just garbage. It was complete over-reaction.
And, yeah, the reason why the golf community is so upset is because he is a stand up guy. He is not a hot head or the "egotistical golfer" that you claim. That said, the cop was likely new to policy as related to the pro golfers, and so he decided he wasn't having any of this "go around the accident" stuff. I am sure there was a misunderstanding somewhere here.

And, yeah, cops see horrible things and take a daily risk for us with their lives. So sometimes mistakes are made. It just would have been far better if the agency realized what was happening, no body cam, etc.. and simply dropped it all and got him back on the course. Instead, they are completely overcharging - which was simple intimidation. "Even if we are wrong we can wreck your life." (Felony assault on a PO? Really?) The PD has put itself in a situation where they simply can't say "we were mistaken" and move on. I can live with people making mistakes in a live situation. But to continue this bullshit is ridiculous.

Frankly, if this hadn't happened, he likely wins the tournament.

And, yeah, curious, who is still saying Sheffler was at fault at all?
