I certainly don't want old slick-hair Newsom, and I think a most other people don't either.

Trump did himself no favors however. Yeah, he won. But if he had showed some compassion when
it was clear Biden was just gaga - that would have built a bond with voters (those independent voters).
Yeah, I like trump and most of his polices, but he comes off mean and spiteful.
A little friendliness when it was clear he had won would have gone a long way.

He didn't stress the political persecution enough and how that is the most serious danger to democracy.
He could have responded better on the bleach and fine people hoaxes.
So, yeah, Trump won. But i don't think it was as clear cut as everyone is saying. That may just be me though...

If Biden continues running, either Trump is shot or he is jailed. That is the only reasonable course if you think Trump
is the next coming of Hitler.

Didn't lefties say this happened in Trump's first term? "Trump WAS Hitler!" because he:
- Didn't start any wars
- Improved the economy
- has the lowest Black and Latino Unemployment rates in history
- Moved the US embassy to Jerusalem (which clearly started Mideast wars! Oops, wait, that didn't happen until Biden was installed.)
- didn't nuke anyone

Yeah, why else would there be a debate SO early.

The only reason I can think of is that his handlers hoped he would do okay and then they could blow off or minimize debates closer to the election.

Exactly. How can they be so afraid of Trump when he already has a good record as president, and Biden's record was war and inflation?

Yet there is no getting through to them. My MIL hates Trump with a rage bordering on involuntary mental health hold. But if you ask her why, she can't come up with anything coherent. My sister is similar. And a female neighbor.

One commonality is that they are all older women. Just saying that that seems to have something to do with it. Trump makes them feel bad and they can't ever forgive that.

So why does he make older women in particular feel so bad? Daddy figure? Daddy figure with a beautiful model wife? I don't get it, but then men's and women's thinking are disjoint sets, a term I learned as a wee programmer:

There must be some deal. I think Trump agreed to something in exchange for keeping RFK out of the debate, because RFK is serious competition.

100% NO on RFK. Regardless of policies he loses 20-30 points at the starting line in a head to head matchup. He can't talk. I know women will dislike it for sure when they wake up 2 weeks before election day. I can't stand him regardless of what the cement mixer pouring down his esophagus says.

Trump is the new Kennedy. Kennedy lineage is over. Done. They'll be broke in another generation. I'm no bastion of health, but he clearly fucked up when he was younger. You can't run for POTUS when it sounds like a quarry is flying out of your mouth.

Biden is working his hardest to get there as well. WFT was that about. Take a cough drop. Something. He sounds like a dead man walking trying to catch up with RFK.
