Another, from Sep 4th:

Welcome to patrick.net @Itsthisguy24

We're glad you're here.
6   DemocratsAreTotallyFucked   2024 Sep 6, 5:19pm

I think we already scared them away.

Lol!

Make a comment. I waited I think 5 years. Now I'm 13k deep. Opinions are just that, so don't expect everyone to play nice. More users is good though. I look at this place as therapy.

It would be nice to have more active female users. Not sure how one goes about attracting that crowd. They're all on social media. I prefer this format. Just comment and have fun, argue, debate, agree, disagree and realize no one actually gives a shit.

It's Patrick's site. Never met him. Have emailed him. I've disagreed with him on many things. Guess what I keep coming back. I always go to the airport reference. I could literally bitch at you on here or any forum. We meet in an airport not knowing each other and could probably talk for an hour at the bar.

Not a huge Crowder fan, but it's kind of like that. We all mostly agree on everything with 5% of ideas being an outlier or just being uninformed. Also, don't join and run when someone disagrees. We've had a few of those in the last couple months. Unless you meetup with anyone here, this is all fake. Don't take anything personal. You can actually learn a lot from commenters here. Sign up and start posting dammit. I need new people to argue with.

Maybe women are put off by the tits thread, or the argumentative nature of the site.

There are plenty of ta-tas on X.

I think that FarmersWon has them terrified of being raped by an Indian.

Welcome new users, and remember, Patnet is the original style safe space. Use ignore on the boring and anything else that annoys you.

Tits don't help for sure. I've grown out of that phase of life. I know women that actually like seeing tits. Rarity though. Wife is passed out now (ran 20 miles this morning), but I could rip her shirt off and fuck her. I don't need porn. Free speech guy, but I'll use that speech to say it's pretty juvenile to look at naked women all day.

I will say it's not super argumentative here. Does it happen, yes. We have a few hissy fitters that piss off. Women just don't do this format. They want to show photos of their kids and what they're doing. I give no fucks about your family. I'm raising my own kids. I don't have to brag online about average to below average kids. They are what they are.

Welcome @Rose77

How did you find this site?
15   Patrick   2024 Sep 8, 7:12pm

Hmmm, @Juliawww there were a lot of registrations lately, maybe robots.

Are you a real person?
16   Rose77   2024 Sep 8, 7:37pm

I saw it on a TV show and didn’t know anything about it.
17   Rose77   2024 Sep 8, 7:37pm

I don’t quite understand how it works so I might not even stay on it.
18   Patrick   2024 Sep 8, 8:02pm

Well, we're happy you tried it out anyway @Rose77

You've already got the hang of it.

Sad I wasn't welcomed, but happy I wasn't suspected of being a bot.

The bots are real here at times unfortunately. Patrick hates google, I don't blame him. The weird lettering bot box to prove you're a human might help with that. I don't know those services though, I know google is the major one.

You are welcomed though. Semi moderator here, but I generally don't touch flagged comments. I am an ass hole though if you cross me ;) Joking aside, welcome. Some new regulars would be awesome. If you hang out I swear a lot. Just a warning. Maybe you've already been lurking and already know. I know some of the slightly or more religious users don't like it. They take it in stride... I think?

I lurked and stole memes for a while first. There was one guy I really wanted to /ignore though so I signed up.
23   Patrick   2024 Sep 9, 11:22am

Lol, that's great! Never occurred to me that someone would register just to be able to ignore another user.

And thank you for stealing memes! They are meant to be stolen.

I suppose I cannot know about the effects of the cheesecake thread, but I am going to say it's not because of the "argumentative nature".

I have been observing and participating with this site since the real estate focused days. I say this place has done a really good job. Interactions are mostly, relatively, constructive (and not uncommonly informative, funny and entertaining). I do not remember this site ever devolving into endless, insufferable flaming, from barely literate troglodytes, for example.

Tell me where a person can find better.
29   Patrick   2024 Sep 10, 7:21pm

@Kep Thank you!

Let me know if you see a way I can get the site more visibility.

How did you find this site?
38   stereotomy   2024 Sep 28, 8:31am

I'd be interested to know how long the PatNet members lurked before registering (try before you buy period). I'll start - I think it was close to 10 years. @Patrick you might be able to confirm this, but probably not, since I've had a major geographic change in the last 20 years - You'd have to have a really long IP history cached.
39   WookieMan   2024 Sep 29, 4:40am

I lurked for 5 years. Joined and didn't make a comment for about 3 years. 13k+ comments and 9 ignores later.

I miss some of the older petty users that always wanted to argue, but when found wrong they cut and run. Have had two long timers recently do it. Just own what you type here. If you're wrong you're wrong. It's not the end of the world. Just don't dox yourself is my biggest suggestion and second is don't get butt hurt. Sometimes it's best to ignore a post.

It's not a bad thing, but some users you're never going to convince or convert here even if you're 100% right.

@stereotomy I don't keep very old log files, so I don't have any way of telling how long people lurk. I supposed I could keep records of all the old IP addresses, but it doesn't seem worthwhile.

I was able to tell how long people go between registering and making their first comment, because the database has registration date and all the comments have a date. 84% of users make their first comment on the day of registration. The longest lag between registering and commenting was 4117 days, which is over eleven years.

For those that took a day or more, here is a log-log graph:

42   ElYorsh   2024 Sep 29, 11:13am

I lurked around since Obama's real estate crash and started to value the quality and substance of some of the commentators. I think I finally registered when my brain disconnected from the MSM matrix during the Trump years.
43   SoTex   2024 Sep 29, 12:04pm

I lurked for a few years starting in 2007 and then joined one day when my toilet broke.
