I share many of the sentiments posted above, but realistically I would be happy with two modest items :

1) Make current tax law permanent (we are currently set to return to previous rules after 2025). Lower tax brackets and the 20% QBI deduction for S Corps is very important for my financial health.
2) Make permanent the current schedule for ACA (Affordable Care Act) PTC (Premium Tax Credit) so that the income cliff does not return in 2026. Old law eliminated any PTC if income (MAGI) exceeded 400% of the Federal Poverty Level which became known as "the cliff". Current law pro-rates income limits into a gradual drop off above 400% FPL. This subsidy is so good that I can't even justify Roth Conversions until I'm on Medicare. Literally a dollar in extra income results in almost a 50 cent cut in the PTC for me.

It’s not going to happen. And the writer is correct, the Republic is in great peril. America is about to learn what happens to a nation that loses its bearing. How far we have fallen from the days where men wrote about being endowed by our Creator with inalienable rights to today where a-holes in private jets tell us to eat ze bugs. I’d liquidate BlackRock to pay off our national debt. I have one more little request: repeal the Patriot Act. We have some Three-letter agencies that could go back to doing what they were created to do (IMHO):

1. FBI: deter, detect and dismantle DOMESTIC threats.
2. CIA: deter, detect and dismantle FOREIGN threats.

Both agencies have become so corrupt and malign that it's hard to imagine how they would be set back on course. The Patriot ACT was supposed to be temporary. It must go, along with all of its hellspawn black budget agencies that have no visibility or oversight. We'd save a shedload of money, too.

True, but there will be some non-financial issues. Countries may refuse to take back their citizens. Lawsuits will be filed and must be fought. There is also the "familiarity" issue, where people will fight to keep the illegals they have befriended from being deported.

The deportation may be more along the lines of first cutting of all aid and incentives to illegals (including driver's licenses), then immediately deporting all illegals arrested for a crime, then fining anyone who hires or rents to illegals, then offering free fights and a small stipend to any who voluntarily deport.

Make it a felony to employ, house, or do business with illegals. Nullify all loans made to illegals. Create a permanent ban of citizenship for anyone entering or born to illegally or that enter under false pretense.
