Mrna is not supposed to modify the dna but to temporarily instruct cells to produce certain fragments, e.g. proteins. So they enter the cell but supposedly not the nucleus and degrade over time, leaving the original cell (and its dna) intact, akin to a lease.

However this is not always true as apparently dna alteration/imprint in the nucleus has happened, changing the cell to produce the new payload forever and possibly replicating itself. A virus always enters the nucleus and alters the dna to replicate itself.

I think DNA-based viruses always enter the nucleus to use that machinery, but RNA-based like Wuhan Virus replicate in the cytoplasm outside the nucleus because everything they need is already there.

But RNA-based viruses might also get reverse transcribed into DNA and then become part of the DNA in the nucleus.

Fortunately, this outbreak was the result of vaccine shedding from the attenuated live virus oral vaccine among an unvaccinated Mennonite community. Since no one took the death jab, hopefully, the survivors will all make a full recovery.
