India: It’s Worse Than You Think

Most Westerners know nothing about India beyond vague ideas about Hinduism, yoga, gurus, and maybe a dash of Bollywood. To such people, this article will be a rude awakening. ...

I had first returned to India with the idea of improving it, but after 11 years, I realized that India was a sinking ship, with worsening and increasingly shameless corruption, degraded people, and a society that was falling apart. I had never met an honest bureaucrat or politician. I applied to emigrate to Canada and my application was approved in a record three weeks.

I now advise East Asian and Western corporations on investing in India. Most of what I tell them sounds to them exaggerated, unrealistic, and unbelievable. After much dance, drama, and a great deal of lost money, they begin to believe what I tell them. However, this learning is never institutionalized because of a refusal to understand India. This is a form of political correctness, a poison eating away the innards of Western values.

When I was a child growing up in India, I learned that “might makes right.” Power was often abused, with those in control acting as if they had a God-given right to exploit and dominate others. The display of authority could be so extreme that questioning it or expecting those in power to do their duty might lead to retribution. Those in authority seemed to believe that their positions were not for serving others but for personal gain.

People who showed respect appeared to have meekly accepted a lower, subservient position. Kind people had to hide their compassion, for being nice was seen as a weakness.

In India, I have rarely seen someone in authority take the initiative to solve a problem he was responsible for. When I was at university, an underaged boy who worked in the kitchen was raped and sodomized by the janitors. I reported the matter, but not only did no one in authority do what was right — something well within their power — the authorities and fellow students threatened me with severe consequences if I pursued the matter further. Devoid of empathy, they also made fun of the boy and me.

Yes, there is an element of sadism here. There is some degree of pleasure that Indians take in the pain suffered by others. The attitude of the authorities was like that of the high-placed Delhi bureaucrat who told me that his Black Label whiskey tastes so much better because he knows that most Indians can’t afford to drink it.

This confuses Westerners. If they had power, even if they were corrupt, in a situation where there was nothing to gain or lose — no bribes to receive since both parties were poor, and no risk of offending someone well-connected — they would do the right thing and book the alleged rapist. These Indians would do nothing, not even lift a finger, unless there was a reward: money or sex. Their apathy was bottomless.


The article goes on about how incredibly low-trust India is as a society.

True? Any people from India want to opine on this?

Point is not to compare those. But to point out there are way more non-indian people who behave badly in public compare to them but media n racist exagerate few instances.

San fancosco had 750,000 homeless, almost poop on street n you don't see this much news on it. Same in ny, Newark, philadelphia. For well off country this is not good. For india where, 200years of colonism left india poor from one of the richest, this is expected since they don't have all the facilities yet. They built 90 million toilets, so issue is lot less now.

The point here is the behavior cinsidered not normal in the West and perpetuated only by people obviously mentally ill and addicted to hard drugs is considered pretty normal and mainstream in India. One of my kid's middle school Indian classmates proclaimed that shitting outside is more healthy and hygienic than using a toilet. If an Indian kid living in California thinks like that it means he has picked it up from his parents' culture and hears this at home.

This not culture of India either. Poverty or lack of toilet was causing that. Most people are not doing that. In old days when there was no indoor plumbing , then people used to go out but this has been fixed a lot. It's criticized in india as well.

90 million new toilets built guiness world record, india is not in top 10 percent wise now. For relative poor country it's impressive.

Usa, san fracisco richest county. it's bad that this many mentally ill n drug addicts roam around.

That drug issue is tip of much bigger problem. You don't want your kids around that. You dont want that kind of culture near your kids.

Us has high number of stds also, you might want to avoid that culture also.

Educationally us is way behind even compared to 1st world countries, make sure you keep your kids away from that also.

When I was living on the beach in Florida my girlfriend and I stopped at an ice cream shop and were waiting in line when an Indian woman and her daughter just cut in front of us and pretended they were next! I verbally bitch slapped her and reminded her she was in the United States of America and we don’t put up with that shit. Order goes into effect on Monday, too. The $100k whenever H1B's re-enter the US part. So, any Indians currently on one of their 4 week vacations that American workers get will be fucked.

Usa itself buys lot from russia,
Eu n china also buy lot from russia.

This may be good for indias independece in long run, it needs to create its own apps google, Facebook,.. all can be built there. China russia all have their own apps. If IT Talent can build here in usa can also build there. Big it will lose about half of its customers also.

Even Indian people here prefer less h1, as jobs are not available easily.

I think this could seriously reduce prices in the Bay Area, especially Fremont, which is like 90% Indian H1bs.

Maybe I'll finally find it economical to buy a house. Not counting on it, but would be nice.

On the other hand, those people reserving the tix are actually defending Americans from having their wages driven down and rents driven up by the flood of H1bs.

And it's not illegal and not violent. So I support the tactic of flooding the reservation systems to defend America.

SUMMARY OF H-1B EXECUTIVE ORDER

- ENTRY BAN: No H-1B visa holder may enter the United States beginning Sunday September 21st, including current visa holders, unles they pay $100K to enter.

- VISA FEE: New H-1B and H-1B extensions must pay 100K to be processed and 100K per year every year thereafter to maintain them.

This will effectively end the H-1B program completely. No one, even the highest paid at 500K will be paying an extra 100K a year to the government.
