The Amazon counterfeit product scandal is way worse than I thought. It’s massive. I wouldn’t hold the stock until it gets sorted out.

100% of the Dilbert calendars on Amazon are fake. I don’t sell the calendar on Amazon. And Amazon has an (intentionally) broken system for reporting the fakes. The fakes come faster than the reporting system.

I’m hearing incredible stories of Amazon abusing American small business owners by essentially being accomplices in stealing their work and giving it to China. The system is so robust that ANY successful American product China can copy gets knocked off.

More on that story today.

Hasn't this been know for at least 5-8 years? I haven't bought a thing from Amazon in over a year I think now. It's a bull shit site that's gets you bull shit quick if you have prime. Wife will use it but I don't trust anything and usually my purchases would be $50+. I ain't getting fake shit above that amount as a cheap skate. I'll go to a physical location or the manufacturer directly if possible.

I'd bet 60-70% of transactions are violating copy write and trademarks. Will search it to find stuff, but don't purchase from there. I'm a rewards guy so I go to manufacturers that will give me a kick back on my card and I know it's the real deal. If I needed something next day, then I'm a retard. Plan for purchases or just go out and get them.

Why no lawsuit then?

$$$$$ Would cost Adams over $1M at least in attorney fees. I'm sure he's wealthy but not super wealthy. Amazon could spend $100M and not even notice. There's also plausible deniability on the Amazon end.

Most companies or people wouldn't have recourse without spending a ton of money. Amazon just doesn't care. Hence why I only use it for stuff I know is crap but serves a purpose for a year or two. Legit been a year though since I've bought anything.

Well, it would cost AMZN $$ to enforce Scott's copyright. Why should they pony up if Scott doesn't want to?

This very issue is why John Moses Browning included a clause wrt licensee being legally required to sue anyone infringing on the copyright into all licensing deals for his firearms designs.

They don't have to?? Confused. Amazon has attorneys on retainer. They've already paid them and can drag it out for years. Scott doesn't. Nothing he can do and if he wins it's 30-40% to his attorneys and then taxes on his end. For a calendar.

I don't think it's right, but that's why Amazon sells bull shit from the small people and businesses. They can just get a Chinese corp to duplicate it. Hell the calendar was likely printed in China anyway.

Lawyers need to be paid and I'd imagine they have enough lawyers to protect their interests, but not to protect Scott's pro bono. Nobody owes nobody nothing, especially when the guy has the dough to stand up for himself.

This sounds like a really good basis for a massive copyright infringement lawsuit. The higher the sales volume, the more lucrative the suit. Adams could claim 100% of the revenue BEFORE punitive damages are set. Go get them, Adams.

Many other people writing in. Amazon is colluding with the Chinese makers, this is an old story, been hearing about this for almost a decade now.

I should just drive over to his house and pick one up. He lives a few minutes away.

Lol. Must have taken some acid this morning. Scott Adams is going to beat Amazon? That's funny. We're talking a calendar here. That's the OP. $100k MAX in sales. I get he didn't give approval.

It would cost an attorney more to work this than they'd make on the win. He's been a whiny bitch for some time. No one is doing pro bono on a corporate case. He'd end up owing the attorneys. The lawsuit would already be dead in the works.

Get after Amazon with a company that does $10-50M/yr. Then you maybe have a case.

Again, old story.

The trick is to see if Amazon pulls this in UK or EU.
