But my prediction is that The Syndicate (certain former Commandants and admirals, industry lobbyists regulated by the Coast Guard, etc) will come out and "team up" with mainstream media to make this look like Trump's "first major mistake".

I know of this agency. Fagan not only was the first female Commandant but also the first Commandant to be fired since 1915.
Prior to 1915, the Coast Guard traces its roots to the Revenue Cutter Service which was started by Alexander Hamilton in 1790.
I don't think any Commandant and any "commissioner of the Revenue Cutter Service" were ever fired.
I am not surprised as I watched the Senate hearings of Operation Fouled Anchor and Republicans and enough Democrats seemed to say that Admiral Fagan
needed to be let go based on the amount of obstruction and misleading from the agency leadership.
I'm guessing maybe some Congressional representatives complained about the Coast Guard not completing its border security duties and that is why they put that as one of the reasons why Admiral Fagan was fired.
