And if labor is short, producers will do what they have always done, change production and invent and adapt technology to lower labor inputs.

Which will create middle class, value added jobs that pay taxes, instead of shitty guest worker jobs where the costs are externalized as @clambo described above.

If strawberries start getting picked by machinery, the jobs storing, renting, deploying, maintaining the machinery will create decent paying jobs.

how much does rich economies like Japan and Israel rely on immigrant labor ?

Israel often uses cheap Palestinian labor.

Lack of labor is irrelevant to productivity.

yep, no more elitist and snarky warnings about $15 per pound for organic strawberries at Whole Foods UNLESS we open our border to the 3rd world masses

Not sure myself. Thought they may be artichokes.

Broccoli or cauliflower
At least I know artichokes plants that they grow a truck loads around from seeds from previous years dried artichoke flowers.

Someone above mentioned how Japan finds labor; I can relate what I saw in 1988 in rural Japan and it was fantastic.
I saw older women doing labor everywhere, including repairing roads. I was flabbergasted that the manual labor was very often older Japanese ladies.
It was particularly common to see in sea farming activities. I visited a factory for nets used to grow scallops and was amazed to see a room full of Japanese ladies assembling them by hand. I saw an abalone hatchery and all of the workers on this little island were ladies.
In 1988 I visited places in Japan which reminded me of "You only live Twice" at the end when Bond is running around small islands.

I have no idea what is going on in Japan today; I want to go visit but I can't stomach long flight across the Pacific.

No, they use Asian labor. Palestinians are only allowed in free zone factories just over the Walls and back over at the end of the shift: they would never be trusted to live on a farm.

Japan not at all.

Israel about 3% of the population is immigrant labor, mostly from India, Philippines, Thailand, and China.

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2025/08/21/pew-research-biden-administration-packed-swing-states-over-1-million-illegal-aliens/

In just two years of his one-term presidency, President Joe Biden’s border policies helped welcome more than a million illegal aliens to the nation’s electoral swing states and, additionally, some 450,000 illegal aliens to Texas.

The latest Pew Research Center estimates specifically look at the rate at which Biden increased the illegal alien population in a two-year window — from 2021 to 2023.

Notably, the Biden administration packed swing states with more than a million illegal aliens during those two years, with likely many more resettling in such states from 2023 through 2024.

In particular, the swing state of Florida saw its illegal alien population grow by 700,000 in just two years under Biden, while Georgia’s illegal alien population grew by 100,000. ...

While the Pew Research Center estimates that the illegal alien population hit a record in 2023 under Biden, at more than 14 million, scholarly estimates from years prior suggest that the illegal alien population today is well above 22 million.

@robsmithonline
I’m in one of the whitest states in the nation and still managed to get an Uber driver named “Mohammed” playing Habbibi music or whatever on the way to my ferry.

There are simply way, WAY too many immigrants - both legal and illegal - in America.

To be perfectly fair, the Trump administration did go a bit overboard by asking Uganda if they wanted him chunked on ice, or whole on the hoof.

America's most popular beer maker cuts fiscal outlook as Trump's immigration crackdown hits demand

Constellation Brands (STZ) stock fell 7% on Tuesday after the Modelo and Corona owner cut its fiscal year outlook and said in a statement that declines in high-end beer sales to Hispanic consumers "were more pronounced than general market declines."

U.S. authorities detained 475 people, mostly South Korean workers, in a large immigration raid Thursday at the Hyundai-LG electric vehicle battery plant in Ellabell, Georgia.

The raid formed part of President Trump's broader crackdown on undocumented immigrants and targeted violations of employment laws at the construction site.

South Korea, expressing concern, swiftly engaged through diplomats and officials including LG Energy Solution's HR chief, Kim Ki-soo, who prioritized the detainees’ prompt release.

On Sunday, the chief of staff to South Korea’s president announced that talks with the U.S. have ended, and once all administrative steps are completed, the detained workers will be flown back to South Korea on a chartered plane.

So they get a free ride back home. Pretty much a bonus for them.

475 jobs that would be done by Americans. Crazy.

The Democrats have around 40-50 worth of fraudulent Congressional seats due to illegals.

760,000 people per seat.
40,000,000 illegals.

That’s what Anti-ICE is all about.

Power.

Around every 760,000 illegals deported the Democrats lose a seat.

It’s not about compassion.
865   clambo   2025 Sep 29, 6:59pm

Booger is entirely correct above.

Additionally, the slave masters all like the illegals and have lobbyists who talk to the politicians about the "need for workers."
