IRS yes. USPS is here to stay. It does need to be more streamlined though. All packaging should be outsourced. They should just do paper mail and that's it. No more post office boxes and envelopes you can buy. Just do paper mail. 1 carrier could do 1k addresses a day sorting and delivering if they didn't have to deal with packages. You could cut staff/routes by 50% immediately.
I was already hitting 638 addresses and that included packages. It was insane. If I just did the mail we could have cut one of our rural routes. That's $50k at least in one office. You also don't need a supervisor in smaller offices. I could cut $150-200k at my former office overnight.
They do more with less. Hey lets sell a box we buy and then basically have to sell if someone wants it. Make them buy their own box and get postage on their own. Novel idea. Nah, lets have 3 months of inventory boxes just sitting there you paid for.
Also, regulated, but the USPS is similar to the FED. There's control from government, but it's a private business technically. They also have the most antiquated pay stubs I've seen. It's like Irene in the back room did it on a typewriter.
