You can round that out to at least 5-600 billion a year (maybe more) out of about 1400 billion total payments making a few numerical assumptions just from the chart that is likely being laundered out of the SS system, not even counting all the other payees who are not qualified to be in the system (illegals, etc.).

SS payments did not start until 1940, so those 1.039 folks who are age 220 to 229 would have been put on the system at age 135 or older. Who signed off on that application?

My dad in the 70's created a fake person and SS#. While illegal, he never did anything illegal with this fake person. He's dead now so doesn't much matter. It just shows how inept government is. You have to pay in, but who knows, this fake might be part of those stats. Others likely did this.

The way I read the data as well is just people eligible for SS. Look into it for sure, but highly unlikely people are getting checks.

How much is involved depends on assumptions but it is a LOT. It means that SS has been used as a piggy bank for somebody in the government ranks. The temptation was just too great.
