Cardinal Robert Prevost elected first American pope in history

American Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was on Thursday named Pope Leo XIV, making him the 267th pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church. The new leader of the 1.4 billion-strong church was elected through a two-day conclave gathering 133 Roman Catholic cardinals in the Vatican. ...

@grok How many non-Europeans have been pope?

There have been three non-European popes in the history of the Catholic Church:

Pope Victor I (reigned 189–199) - Born in the Roman province of Africa, likely in what is now Tunisia.

Pope Miltiades (reigned 311–314) - Also born in the Roman province of Africa, likely in North Africa.

Pope Gelasius I (reigned 492–496) - Born in Rome but of African descent, with origins likely in North Africa.

All three were from North Africa, and no popes from other non-European regions (e.g., Asia, the Americas, or Australia) have been recorded. This is based on historical records of papal origins.

...so not only is Leo XIV the first American pope. He's the first pope not of European or African origin.

Prevost is 110% pro-mass migration.

"See, America, this is your first Pope, and he LOVES unlimited immigration. Aren't you ashamed to want to deport anybody!?"

I knew when they picked fast, it was going to be a meh choice or bad choice.

Also he's a big Greenie. But moderate enough on other issues not to disgust Trads.

Francis knew he was going out and wanted to firm up his wing in the Vatican. Prevost was put in charge of selecting Bishops a couple of years ago.

Trump is so dangerous to the Church they picked a Chicago Wise Guy to oversee the invasions and subversions of the Republic and the Constitution, LOL.

The Peruvian connection will assure only the best cocaine gets through on the illegal mules.

If you look at it from a political point of view, the pope has more support in Latin America than in the US, because there are more Catholics down there.

Of course the pope will be in favor of fucking over low-income American workers with a flood of criminal aliens. That policy transfers massive amounts of money from working low-income US citizens to those Catholic criminal aliens. The criminal aliens then can donate more cash to the church.

There is a good deal of anti-clericism in Mexico and South America, too, due to the depraved, invasive and cruel activities of the Church over the centuries.

Jesuits were also extremely active in Peru. Is Leo XIV a crypto Jesuit?
