Hard to take it seriously when it says millions of barrels per day instead of thousands.

You are wrong, sir!

13.3 million barrels of crude, alone, in 2023.

CHART OF THE DAY: US crude oil production jumps to record high of 13.3 million barrels per day

Read the chart above. It says US production was 22,715 Million barrels a day.

Looks like an AI fuck up.

In parts of the world, Germany, for example, a comma is used where the US would use a decimal point. So translated, 22.715 million barrels per day.

Even ceding the decimal, Germanic coveffe; the chart is about 70% higher than other sources indicate for US production.

Maybe German barrels are smaller than US barrels.

Not my field, but I did see a Thoughtful Money video where the energy expert guest said you had to enlarge your definition of oil beyond just crude, consistent with the asterix in the graphic. Natural gas plant liquids is about over 7 million barrels per day, so it is quite believable.

Yes. One is for 2023 and the other is for 2024. But I think both should be thousands pd.

Yup. That was Doomberg. They have the #1 paid subscribed stubstack in the finance category. He says, "Anything that goes into a refinery to produce petroleum products should be counted as oil."

Hardly any in the US take in NG. But a lot do take in NGLs. And more refineries are being overhauled to.

I worked for a German company, so to me, the comma made sense. Quite a few European countries follow this convention. But in any event, it is quite believable that the US produces the described amount.
