Yep, not happy right now about this. Bomb the hell out of ISIS, not secular Syria.
Do both. Did Obama ever bomb any of Assad's facilities? I believe the vast majority of US bombing and ground force action in Syria has targeted ISIS until today.
I think it is smart to target Assad's military bases in response to the use of chemical weapons. We can't live in a world where the use of chemical weapons is tolerated. We can't let that genie out of the bottle and it deserves a special response.
You just got an education on "words (Obama)" versus "actions (Trump)"...
1 retaliatory strike does not a President make.
This.
Obama's red line incident enabled this week's chemical attack.
Despots only understand force.

Despots only understand force.
They understand more than that, but they will take whatever they can get away with.
Hope he killed a Russian.
Trump took action: 5 deferments.
It was hard work!
Trump may get to see PUTIN in action.
What will the reaction be by other Muslims?
I see, so these actions by Obama were so much better?
No, he wasn't with regards to Syria.
But, Trump hasn't done enough to hang his hat on and make the investigations and resistance against him stop. He has put 1 point up on the board so far, for me, his entire 60+ days. He is still a national embarrassment of a President. I don't see that changing.
Hope he killed a Russian.
Unlikely. Appears we communicated this was coming, strongly. Loss of life was probably minimal. We rendered the air strip ineffective, and blew up whatever trash wasn't in hardened bunkers.
Edit: above is my read right now based on what news outlets are saying. In 48 hours this becomes a lot clearer.
Also, I'll add, this is going to do wonders with regards to China and N. Korea. We look like Bush Era America here, which means we absolutely WILL police the world if we want to. China, you want us to setup a patrol in your area of the world? No? Ok then. What can you do for us?
Trump may get to see PUTIN in action.
Putin will just whine.
What will the reaction be by other Muslims?
Who cares?
...and now this; more war/military adventurism of choice that Trump LITERALLY demonized while slinging his bullshit in the campaign trail.
You are OK with human rights abuses? Obama did nothing to stop the rise of ISIS and the genocide of the Yazidis. Now you want Trump to just stand by and let crazy maniacs use chemical weapons?
Aint gonna happen.
Good, I am beginning to like Trump more and more
War is hell, and so live the people who are experiencing this.
Why or why did not the great noble prize winner attempt every effort of peacemaking/brokering, negotiation, empathy, and teaming with other countries and NATO to stop the genocide? To me this worse than Kosovo or even worse because of the sheer destruction, dislocation and terror?
But name a good horror...
I had concerns about the ripeness and preparation that Obama handed us when he turned a blind eye to China and North Korea and Russia. Then he give deals to Iran and Cuba.
Surely I would be a bad politician, because my principles would not allow it.

Are you suggesting that if we gave Obama one more term that peace was just about to break out all over?
To make a weighted average of conditions before and after consider the frequency.
Compared to 2009 and 2016
- How many missile launches per year from N Korea? What was done to try to reduce this?
- How many refugees coming from middle east? What was done to reduce this.
- What was the stability and outlook of Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Libya, what was done to reduce the stability?
- How many people were victims of terror, organized or lone wolf in France, Belgium, Germany. WWD to reduce this?
- How may islands were in development/existed in the China Sea. WWD to address this?
- How many poison gas attacks.....WWD to address this?
- How many countries did russia invade.....WWD to address this?
- How many computers were hacked at how many agencies.......WWD to address this?
... ...
How did this happen?
Hey Strategist, you must be fucking retarded to believe Assad used Sarin at this point in time, when his survival was all but guaranteed, rather than a guarantee-fucking "rebel" operation to pin this on Assad.
You have to be retarded to believe Trump would have attacked Syria without being sure Assad used chemical weapons.
You Dems who criticize Trump while ignoring who was in charge when this ill conditions percolated are worse than the Bolsheviks. (this is not an ad hom, its actually true!)
But we all remember the line in the sand threat of Obama. Surely all the eastern med states shook in terror.....
In reality, Obama would say that the Republicans took the line and took the sand. Then CNN and MSNBC would run that story for 2 weeks like the live video branch of the DNC which they are.
This was seen on April 1, 2017 in Athens, Greece.
I can't read it. It's all Greek to me.
Once you guys all finish high fiving and doing the testosterone dance want to fill the rest of us in on trumps double secret plan for post assad? Hopefully it will be better than the Iraq or Afghanistan plan.
Obama is gone, if trump fucks this up he owns it. Or as colin powell told bush before the iraq invasion, if you break it you bought it.
Wait, weren't you just whining this morning about what Trump would do?
Finally, you are right... if by whining, you mean analyzing Trump's earlier statement, and stating that he had basically forced himself to strike or look like the Obama he criticized over and over during the campaign. By making this statement and striking, he showed us that he did a 180 from 2013 when he pleaded with Obama to not retaliate. He showed us that being President has changed his views.
The only way that this makes any sense for Trump is if he discussed this with Moscow ahead of the attack, and he manages to not escalate this. That seems like a tall order considering Trump's personality and the fact that we have troops in Syria already training various people to fight Assad.
Let chemical weapon use become commonplace, and it will make its way back home.
Nobody wants war but some things deserve being nipped in the bud...

So what part of the attack was designed to remove asshat from power?
Or do you not know the meaning of a "targeted military strike on a remote airfield during the night with base personnel given advanced warning of incoming missiles to destroy that airfields capability to launch chemical weapon attacks"..

Look at what the SOS is saying.
What I noticed about this war so far is that whenever one side starts winning either US or Russia step in and even out the odds to not let the other side win. It's a permanent war.
either US or Russia step in and even out the odds to not let the other side win.
What you are noticing is that Russia and the US are fighting for power and control. This is why it's so funny to hear Trump talk about hoping that he likes Putin and gets along with him. It's like he thinks he's meeting people on the playground to decide who to be friends with. These are professional relationships that are dictated by finding some common ground to work together on and negotiating differences of opinion. These relationships are strategic, and not based on personal chemistry. Now, we'll see how well a 70 yr old learns new things. Should be fun.

The chemical attack is clearly the fault of Obama. He drew phony red lines. He should have acted before.
How long did it take him to start a war?
lol. Trump campaigned on leaving Assad alone and staying out of Syria. He wanted to get along with Putin, and said that Clinton was going to start a war by imposing a no fly zone. Now, Trump is blowing up Assad's airport. My pointing out that Trump is acting very differently than most people interpreted his stance during the campaign and previous years is a sign that I have a Mangina? What explains this faulty logic? Are you still triggered by my questioning your sexuality?
Do you think if Trump wanted Assad gone, that a few Tomahawks wouldn't have hit his palace??
Given the frequency with which we kill foreign heads of state and the other options available to get rid of Assad, I have to laugh at how idiotic that statement is. Surely, you are joking? If not, please explain why you think that Trump would kill Assad, and how the world would respond. Feel free to address the legality of that action.
Russian warships are steaming towards U.S. warship off the coast of Syria as I type this.

Excellent summary by YesYNot.
Drumpf is doing a literal, complete 180° turn on everything he "believe me, we're not wasting taxpayer money in foreign wars of choice anymore" and "why would we help ISIS by taking out Assad, who like Saddam Hussein, although ruthless, hunted and killed terrorists?"
Trump is a fucking liar, the MIC and Deep State have drained him (assuming he ever was sincere - big stretch), and his son-in-law cuck-globalist, Jared Kushner (huge, huge derp and vassal of the Deep State), is now ousting the very people that actually got Drumpf elected
People like Ironman (who imagines he is Tony Stark and probably wears Ironman pajamas to bed) are to Trump what Branch Davidians
were to David Koresh.
Trump inserts U.S. into Syrian conflict, bigly, total opposite of his campaign bullshit that cucks like Ironman ate up, and now that he's done a 180, setting the stage for an ISIS and Al-Qaeda takeover of yet another MENA nation-state, while also setting the stage for conflict with Russia, Turkey, and many other nations we should be working with, Ironman sides with the libtards and the John McStains and Lady Bell Lindsey Grahams of the world...
...can't make this shit up.
It's like Alice in Wonderland or Clockwork Orange.

Ha ha ha. Who believes Russia is going to go to war with the US over a Middle Eastern dictator.
Ha ha ha. Who believes Russia is going to go to war with the US over a Middle Eastern dictator.
No kidding.
Love how Nikki Haley at the UN this morning denied the request to have a closed door meeting at the Security Council about Syria and wants it open to the public. She said she wanted the Assad supporters on record so the whole world can hear them.
Drumpf is doing a literal, complete 180° turn on everything he "believe me, we're not wasting taxpayer money in foreign wars of choice anymore" and "why would we help ISIS by taking out Assad, who like Saddam Hussein, although ruthless, huned and killed terrorists?"
Very true.
It is about as jarring as watching the Obama, Clinton and the Democrats go 180 on Russia for political reasons.
