The Mt. Diablo District can afford some cuts but we all know where the cuts will take place (in spite of what is printed in the article). Class size, supplies and salaries will suffer - and it isn’t because of “unionization†… just try living on a teacher’s salary. By the way, the Mt. Diablo Dist. is NOT considered one of the “good districts†… Acalanes is.
Mt Diablo IS a "good district" Acalanes is a "top district", either one will set you back quite a bit when you buy a house.
Schools have everything to do with the parents. Expensive districts get too many volunteers, while poor districts get whatever they want from the Feds. If my daughter ever told a teacher to f*ck him/herself My wife would have to hide her from me, or seeing how my wife is teacher we'd have to take turns.
The kids aren't stupid. The parents are stupid.
According to greatschools.com, the Mt. Diablo school system is in 3 areas, part of Walnut Creek, all of Pleasant Hill, and all of Concord. The lowest performing schools mainly ranked between 1-6 are in Concord, the average 7-8's w/ a few 9's are in Pleasant Hill, and Walnut Creeks schools are all 9-10. No surprise here.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
