We used to live in Windemere and couldn't wait to move out of there. We moved one year later. The tax rate is very high - 1.70%. A few of the older developments (I believe on a street called Craneford Way have a lower tax rate of around 1.45%, which is still up there). Also, some of our neighbors complained that their kids couldn't get into the schools. Windemere is out there. It takes awhile to get to the freeway and the supermarket isn't close. They opened Safeway on Bollinger Canyon, but even so, it isn't walking distance. Also, the closest BART station is in Dublin. The Bridges in San Ramon is closer to the freeway and the supermarket. There are some very nice homes there.
I don't know if you have considered the city of Dublin, but the east part of Dublin is a nice area. It is close to the freeway, BART, Hacienda Crossings, and there's an Ulferts shopping center there. It has wonderful Asian cuisine, an Asian bakery, and other shops. Some nice developments in the east Dublin area are Dublin Ranch and Emerald Park. Braddock & Logan is also building a lot of homes there and there are other builders there as well. There's no shortage of nice homes. There's also a new sports park called Fallon Sports Park that just opened (phase 1 was just completed, with more phases to come).
I know it's a lot to think about, but I am sure you and your fiance will make the best decision in the end. Best of luck.
Does anyone know anything about a neighborhood in San Ramon called Windmere? My fiance would like us to look at homes in the area because she says its a pretty up and coming place for immigrants (she is Chinese - working on becoming a naturalized citizen). I want to make her happy, but I’m very reluctant to look at higher end homes that have had price runups before the crash.
Anyone have anything to say about Windmere?
