Has anyone else had there passwords reset? Apparently Gawker Media had there website hacked and 100,000 user account were stolen. I've never heard of Gawker media or any of the websites they say it affected, however I got password reset requests for Linkin and Battle.net. Battle.net specifically said they were changing all users accounts because of the Gawker break-in. Also my own email account password stopped working, I had to reset it. Now I can understand that many people use the same passwords for several sites and it one account is compromised, it's safe to assume others have been as well. But I don't like the idea other sites just assume your share your accounts and just reset all your accounts. Personally I have Unique complex passwords for my email address, online banking, Ebay and Paypal accounts. I pretty much just share two or three passwords between everything else, but these are are all low level accounts. It's not going to cause me a lot of personal loss if someone steals my Patrick.net or Greenbuildingtalk.com account and writes post on them.
And there's not a lot of personal information about me on the net, I don't do facebook, myspace or any of those other social networking sites and a lot of my postings are all done under an Alias "TechGromit" which isn't really associated with my real name. Has anyone else had account passwords reset as the result of this?
