Ran into Patrick.net 3 hours ago. Read his main three pages and was impressed. Read some of the forum---likewise. So before I max out my Roth for 2010 I'd love to hear some of your thoughts on REIT index funds, which have had incredible returns the past year.
How does REIT performance tie into the health of the housing market?
If the housing market indeed crashed again, what might that do to REITs?
Is the great performance driven by actual buying up of real estate, or speculation?
Any comment on whether international or domestic REITs would be superior over the long-haul? (I say "over the long haul" because I am not much into playing the markets beyond a very macro level.)
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
