We are now drifting away from Trump's statement about the US crime rate, which was 100% false .

post his entire statement, then point out exactly what you think is a lie.

I dont think you can. You'd rather let CNN tell you what he said, and what to think about it. The only lie in the inauguration discussion was from CNN and idiots like the author of this article who parrot their lies w/o thinking, w/o even reading trump's own words.

Use your brain. Be better

Ahh so you admit you wont take the time to source trumps own words. you can post a video here if you actually care to think...but you dont want to think. you want snopes and cnn to confirm your bias for you.

i dont read fake news.

This utter lack of resourcefulness is exactly why CNN can lie to you so rampantly. I posted both links AND summarized the numbers for you. Read them.

My post was before you specified that you were talking about murder rate. This proves my original assertion that you didn't have the facts to back up your particular statement. Words matter. Use them correctly.

21   FNWGMOBDVZXDNW   2017 May 9, 6:15am

I can't look up the facts to check your argument when you state your argument incorrectly.

Wow.

cognitive dissonance is evidence of a brainwashed mind.

Ok i watched the snopes video. Pure idiocy. Its a bunch of fools looking for lies where there are none. It gives you zero context, refuses to show you the entire exchange.

The murder rate INCREASE is the highest its been in 47 years. In chicago that increase has been devastating. The point is we have to do something about crime. Trump is spot on with his point, and misquoted a stat in doing so. That's not called a lie. If you did this in conversation NO ONE would have a problem w it.

HOWEVER, ive noticed that the fake news consistently uses 2015 (BEFORE THE SPIKE IN MURDERS) as its comparison year. They do this so they can say "2015 had record low...". THIS IS A LIE. It is willful, it is specifically designed to confirm the bias you already have.

Be better than this. Stop listen to Joseph Goebbels. LIsten to entire video clips and think for yourself.

The murder rate skyrocketed last year. Trump gets people talking about this very important issue, and all you care about is that he said "murder rate" instead of "murder rate increase"...AND to prove the point the media cherry picks their statistics.

This is pure idiocy. This is sticking your head in the sand rather than caring about black lives.

In fact, here's trump using the correct stat. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2016/oct/10/donald-trump/trump-claims-us-has-biggest-increase-murders-45-ye/ "We have an increase in murder within our cities. The biggest in 45 years." So yes, you got him, he slightly misquoted this stat later, leaving off the qualifier "increase" despite the factthat he's made himself quite clear over and over again. He talks all fucking day w/o a teleprompter. Its perfectly normal and acceptable to use less than perfect words at times. Anyone who cares or tries knows exactly what he's saying. To pretend like he's lying and use cherry-picked stats from 2015 is absolute and total FAKE NEWS.

Be better

28   CBOEtrader   2017 May 9, 6:36am

"In fact, Trump’s debate comment was stated more accurately than what one of his key surrogates -- former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani -- said earlier in the day on Meet the Press. Giuliani stated that "last year, crime went up more than in the last 41 years." "

Here's Guiliani using the general word "crime" instead of "murder rate". Is he lying or did he misspeak?

29   marcus   2017 May 9, 6:47am

Betting on Trump are you ? Talking up your position ?

30   FNWGMOBDVZXDNW   2017 May 9, 6:48am

Yes it was. It's seconds 29 through 33. They had to include actual video of Trump saying it, otherwise the brainwashed would deny that Trump ever said it.

CBOEtrader says

"In fact, Trump’s debate comment was stated more accurately than what one of his key surrogates

Yes, he has said things that are factually correct. But he also says things that are 100% false and that is what we are talking about.

He repeated his lie about the murder rate on numerous occasions. This link mentions some of them.

He had hundreds of opportunities to read the press correcting his errors, but he kept repeating it for months. You just assume that the senile old rat kept making the same mistake?

CBOEtrader says

I care about the fact that Trump repeatedly claimed that the murder rate was the highest it's been in 45 years when it is still in fact about half of what it was 25 years ago. He was called out on it, and he kept repeating it over a period of months. During this whole time, he kept calling the press liars for reporting his lies. Even if he were so senile that he kept stumbling on his own talking point, that doesn't give him an excuse to blame everybody else for his mistakes.

32   CBOEtrader   2017 May 9, 7:31am

YesYNot says

But he also says things that are 100% false and that is what we are talking about.

If he and everyone else knows what he's saying, its not a lie. He doesnt use a teleprompter. I see this as a good thing. So should you... but you'd rather misinterpret what you know he's trying to say. It was an ambiguous choice of words that justified a correction. That is very different than a lie. Everyone, literally everyone does this when they communicate. A polished politician who doesnt think for himself and instead reads off a teleprompter will do this less. I dont see this as a good thing.

He certainly wasnt mis-characterizing the situation in our inner cities. They are a warzone.

The people who take the time to understand trump know exactly what he's trying to say. Continue on w your confirmation bias if you want to be a CNN zombie. I choose to be better.

33   CBOEtrader   2017 May 9, 7:39am

YesYNot says

Trump constantly trolls the media because they troll him. This is unfortunately the most effective response against an overwhelming media bias. He consistently makes them look petty, exactly like he did with this murder rate narrative. People in chicago want peace, not CNN spin.

CBOEtrader says

No they don't. The problem is Trump is just plain old incoherent like ten pound bass. So everything he says could be true or could be false.

"Right now, too many families don’t feel secure. Just look at the 30 largest cities. In the last year alone, the murder rate has increased by an estimated 14 percent. Here in Philadelphia, the murder rate has been steady, I mean, just terribly increasing.”

Go ahead, translate this into english. What did he say? Is philly murder rate steady or terribly increasing?

CBOEtrader says

He certainly wasnt mis-characterizing the situation in our inner cities. They are a warzone.

Absolute crap. Pure racist bullshit to fire up the base. What inner cities have you been hanging out in? Crime in the cites has dropped like a rock for 25+ years. NYC is like disney now. The frigging south bronx has gentrified for christ sakes. There a few problem cities (mostly chicago which is half of the murder increase for the whole country) and every city (or town for that matter) will have bad spots, but most certainly aren't anywhere close to a war zone. Don't even bother to cherry pick a few small neighbourhoods again, that was just silly.

35   FNWGMOBDVZXDNW   2017 May 9, 8:08am

CBOEtrader says

If he and everyone else knows what he's saying, its not a lie

I presume that you mean 'If he and everyone else knows what he means, it's not a lie.' Does nobody even know English anymore? Typos and grammatical errors are one thing. If what you say doesn't mean anything close to what you claim it means, there is a big problem. If it happens once, it may be an error. If it's your talking point that you use repeatedly over many months to get elected, it's a lie.CBOEtrader says

This is unfortunately the most effective response against an overwhelming media bias

The most effective response is to call them liars for reporting his blatant lies? That's only effective if your goal is to confuse the population or brainwash people.

Facts arent racist... your loyalty to the cult of diversity rather than helping people will result in more black deaths. You dont care, cause fuck trump right?

Those of us who deal in the real world do care. I worked with an ex gang member in chicago as sort of a friend/mentor. He was shot in the lower back 5 years ago, so we went to the gym together to rehab his legs to hopefully walk again. The stories he told me would make you cry. Those unlucky enough to be born in a chicago ghetto have very little chance in life.

You dont care, cause facts are racist and fuck trump, amirite?

You'll notice, for example, noone ever discussed whether or not building a wall was a good idea. They just screamed RACIST!!!!!! over and over.

This pavlovian response has been hardwired into their psyche by CNN. They associate turning off their brains and screaming DEPLORABLE with being a good person. Its the ultimate mental magic trick. Dont discuss the important topic, just scream racist/liar/deplorable/sexist/republican/etc...

Those of us who deal in the real world don't use Chicago as a synonym for America. The phrase was inner cities, not inner city. Crime in the vast majority of cities is down, way down. The vast majority of the inner cities are not war zones. That's a pesky fact.

WTF nonsense babble is loyal to the cult of diversity supposed to be? I lived and worked in NY,Philly,DC, York Pa, Richmond, Charlotte, Rochester, Newark in the 70's and 80's back in the days hookers and drug dealers beat on your windows if you stopped at a light, which no one ever did. Anyone that tries to say the inner cities are war zones now is an idiot. There are some bad places still out there, mostly Chicago. But most are fine now. Even a lot of Newark is liveable now, something I would have never thought possible. I recently saw the old factory by the Bloomfield exit that really truly used to be a war zone is now luxury condos. Who would have believed it? Half the murder rate increase was caused by Chicago alone. I have no idea what Chicago's problem is, but neither does Trump.

Fuck trump? Only if he wants to do his police state nonsense. If he wants to help out then get together with the leaders of the cities with problems and work out a plan based on what successful cites have done. Listen to the people on the ground and in the field. I would applaud that but really believe Trump is to ego driven to do it.

You're lying.

Many of us discussed it thoroughly. The smart money was accurately explaining why it's a poorly thought out idea, by explaining how markets and the real world works. For example, some people parrot Trumps claim that it would stem the flow of drugs, while smarter folk explained thoroughly how not only would that not happen, rather the opposite would likely occur.

Well, someone is definitely struggling with something.

I know this graph doesn't show the uptick in 2015 -2016, but exactly how big does CBOE think that uptick was ? CBOE a trader, he can read graphs. The graph says that WE are now on average WAY LESS of a war zone than we were at any time in the two decades before 2012.

I guess when every year has decreasing violent crime rates, with the exception of 2 very small increasing years, that makes it pretty darn easy to have the biggest increase in 25 years.
