The whole documentary isn't available, but this short is representative:
Shell shockedI couldn't remember if that only applied to World War I.
It's available on Pirate BayThanks! Again, like today, there was probably a large contingent of mental illness and their "drug" of course was alcohol. Even when liquor is legal, there is at least a legal drinking age, probably 21 then, 18 later in some places. Alcohol is mostly an adult's drug, you don't see many alcoholics in junior high or high school. Once the drug culture took off, that ensnared a whole generation of younger potential addicts like 13-20 range. I was visiting one of my former teachers then in his 90's who had taught in my high school from 1951 to 1983. He had yearbooks from every year and in looking through them we found the first reference to drugs in 1969 when someone referred to a having a joint.
