Again another thing I don't understand. The comments I see most often on social media have to do with unmeasurable, vague concepts along the lines of "This is how we are going to define what the United States is".

Basically rubbish like this:

Stated U.S. Rep. Filemon Vela (D-TX), who penned an infamously scathing letter to Trump slamming the border wall when Trump was still a candidate:

The border wall is a physical representation of the cultural and racial insults President Trump has spewed since his campaign announcement. A physical wall is also a wasteful expenditure of taxpayer dollars, endangers wildlife, stomps on property rights of private landowners, and isolates our partner, Mexico. Mr. Trump, you’re a racist and you can take your border wall and shove it up your ass.

How come it's not "ridiculously high and unsupportable" for Israel? It's not like they are more affluent as a country than US.

Because it's 150 miles.

So? We are also much much bigger country with much much bigger population.

So the cost would be ridiculously high and unsupportable. And a very poor way to spend our wealth.

Israel relies on massive subsidies and support from easily manipulated “Americans”.

Stop giving handouts to Israel then you could use that money to prove that the border wall fails to achieve anything Chumpkins claim it will

Israel gets about $3.5B in aid from US. This is about 1% of their GDP. Even if US completely withdraws the aid I seriously doubt it will cause Israel to abandon their defensive effort and open their borders to the invading hordes.

Many of those 150 miles are in dense built up neighborhoods with Islamist jihadis digging tunnels and firing rockets over the border - which I would argue is harder to guard than the US Southern Border which is primarily desert and open space.

I would take that argument. Once an illegal cuts a hole in the fence, which would be easier to fix?

That’s the direct aid to those Failed Loser welfare queens

That is the price we pay to prevent Israel from ending up like the rest of the of the non-Muslim religious minorities in the Middle East who have already been executed, ethnically cleansed or sold into sexual slavery.

Overstayers on legal visa's are 2/3's of illegals. How is the wall going to stop them? Crap another trumpkin narrative destroyed.

MS-13 is so small and insignificant they may as well not even exist.

Yet Chumpkins keep pretending there’s a there, there

Yep all 10k MS-13 members out of 10+ million illegals. MS-13 originated in the US and moved out to other countries, not the other way around.

Proof that propaganda is very effective

Talk about effective propaganda!

Building a fence is a bigger project and more complicated than the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956?

How about California's high speed rail project? Latest estimates are putting that at $77 billion while the border wall is only $21 billion.

It IS in the purview of the government to protect the border. It's all that entitlement crap that perpetuates victimhood and poverty that we have a problem with.
29   Tenpoundbass   2018 Jul 30, 11:57am

When you have a wall, border or a guarded premeter.
Then you take intruders and interlopers more seriously.
The wall is less about actually keeping people out, as it is a symbol what awaits those who breech it.

Interesting how the narrative changes when the first narrative about walls not working, with facts, gets destroyed.

Why is that?

Nothing got changed. There are no similar walls to the one the US wants to build that have been proven to work. period. It's like building a dam across the widest part of the Amazon river--you argue that a Dam worked on a creek in Michigan so therefore this Dam spanning the widest part of the Amazon also will work.

Arresting employers would be cheapest. When are the ICE raids on big corporations and executive perp walks starting?

We can't even arrest Democrat politicians that openly go against Federal immigration law with their goofy sanctuary city policies.

Once we get more Democrats out of Congress, we can get more serious about enforcement. Until then Bob - YOUR party is the biggest obstacle.

Is that a "Truth by Proclamation", because you certainly didn't provide a shred of evidence to support it.

This list excludes the massive wall on the Jordan-Syrian border, hundreds of miles through mostly absolute desert, and built with $$$ from the Obama Era.

Even has a pedestrian radar and sound sensors that detect vehicle and foot traffic.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there is no specific federal statute that sanctuary cities violate no matter how much trump froths at the mouth about it. I know it's tough to accept but people have to violate a law to be arrested even democrats under trump.

My party is independent and I usually vote R. Not trump R though. The justice department which is who would be going after employers is under the executive branch which is the branch trump is in charge of. I'm surprised you don't know that. The laws against hiring illegals are on the books already. There is nothing preventing enforcement, least of all the democrats..

Still haven[t heard anyone say what the wall will do about the 2/3's of illegals that just overstayed their perfectly legal visa. If they had no job they would leave also. Duh.

I remember when Bush Sr. was in office our neighbor was an Israeli who owned a Flee Market schmatha business. He had a few friends from Israel come over to help him. They came on a visitors Visa. Our government didn't fuck over Americans back then with Foreign Work visas to put Americans out of work. They just off shored the work.
Barazani was a cool guy, likable but after about 6 months past his Visa expiration. The INS(the old ICE) first started sending letters, then came looking for him. One Day Doran came home from the Flea Market and said Barazani was nabbed at work and deported.
45   Y   2018 Jul 31, 8:56am

Also remember that Jerry Seinfeld episode where Apu was deported? Before Bush Jr. and especially Obama we used to deport illegal aliens.
I remember when Chrome detention center in Miami was used to house illegal aliens that got pulled over by the police in traffic. If it was determined they were here illegally they would get hauled off to Chrome and deported about a month later.

And think of the numbers in housing that might become available. Granted it's not prime choice, but rent $ for the bottom 1/3rd might become more affordable again....

Yeah, you will loose your maid, gardener, carpenter, plumber / handyman. If they're illegally here. Get over it, do it yourself or pay for it.
49   FortWayne   2018 Jul 31, 5:13pm

Less cheap labor for left to hire, while replacing Americans. That’s the reason, which left will forever deny.

I find that wall opposers typically fall into one of two categories:

a.) They plain and simple don’t believe there should be borders. They believe that people should’ve able to roam freely anytime anyplace.

b.) They’ve seen one too many liberal late night talk shows that say that a wall won’t keep everyone out. And because it won’t keep everyone out, it would be a failure.

Internet searches still doesn't work on your computer? You really should have that fixed.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/visa-overstays-outnumber-illegal-border-crossings-trend-expected-continue-n730216

https://www.politifact.com/florida/statements/2015/jul/29/marco-rubio/rubio-says-40-percent-illegal-immigrants-are-overs/

There are lots more. I don't feel a need to link or source something that can be looked up in 2 seconds by anyone with an above room temperature IQ. Maybe I should revise that policy to accommodate the lowest common denominator on patnet.

So the question stands, what will the wall do for overstayers? Crickets chirping as always.
