Complete with "Guilty for being Male" messaging. Time to stop using Gillette products.

Gillette is embracing the #MeToo movement in a new digital ad campaign aimed at men, the latest message from an advertiser attempting to change societal norms.

The ad, dubbed “We Believe,” opens with audio of news about the current #MeToo movement, bullying and “toxic masculinity.” A narrator then goes on to dispute the notion that “boys will be boys,” asking, “Is this the best a man can get? Is it? We can’t hide from it. It has been going on far too long. We can’t laugh it off, making the same old excuses.”

Gillette can only lose customers from this crap.

How do we test if this was a good or bad idea?

Pretty sure it worked for Nike.

I'd like to see the results. Nike took a different approach. They tried to make a commercial with an amazing message and only chose to have a shitty person like Kaepernick narrate it. They got away with it and I'm not sure that people were that offended by it. This on the other hand, feels different. I never stopped wearing Nike gear, even though I hate Kaepernick. I most certainly am considering switching razors once my Gillette cartridges are up. I also on Proctor and Gamble and am considering selling it for a company that I don't have to worry about pulling stupid shit to piss off your customers.

Maybe you can test by looking at the ratings on Youtube for the ad. Here they are, after one day and almost 1 million views:

13K Up votes and 129K Down votes - looks like a great decision by Gillette, right?

Also, there are 38K Comments under the video.... Enjoy!!

Gillette's "Toxic Masculinity" Ad Campaign Backfires Spectacularly.

Dear men, razor brand Gillette wants you to know that you need to shed your inherent toxic masculinity - that all men have (trust them) and have been making excuses for, and haven't done anything about until now.

The add, dubbed "We Believe" begins with a montage of bullying and sexism - as a pack of wild, toxically masculine white boys tear around, leaving behind a wake of misery and abuse.

Reached for comment by the Wall Street Journal, Gillette brand director for North America Pankaj Bhalla said "This is an important conversation happening, and as a company that encourages men to be their best, we feel compelled to both address it and take action of our own," adding "We are taking a realistic look at what’s happening today, and aiming to inspire change by acknowledging that the old saying ‘Boys Will Be Boys’ is not an excuse. We want to hold ourselves to a higher standard, and hope all the men we serve will come along on that journey to find our ‘best’ together."

Good point.

Although Nike's primary customers were already likely BLM supporters.

Gillette, maybe not.

Wtf, worst ad ever!
25   FortWayneAsNancyPelosiHaircut   2019 Jan 14, 7:48pm

Not buying another Gillette, wtf were they thinking.
26   theoakman   2019 Jan 14, 7:58pm

Most of the people on youtube are pointing out that the guys who support this ad are likely hipsters that don't even shave.
28   MisdemeanorRebel   2019 Jan 14, 8:20pm

Ordered my Parker Straight Razor.

Wanted to switch for a while, thanks Gillette for the final excuse.

Shave Club razors are excellent. OMG I violated the first rule of shave club, you don't talk about shave club.

Soap is for ASSHOLES!

Weenie. I have my local barber shave my legs and do the manscape. And he use an old fashioned strap sharpened straight razor.

Shave? I’ve been using beard tonic to get a much more bushier and scruffier beard.

Try kerosene. That roughs it up real well and kills most of them bugs. Kinda messes up things though when you wring out your beard to get leftovers.

My genuine Gillette triple blades last nine months to a year apiece

The ones I bought at 10-12 per pack at a dollar store last about the same.

10 of these 10 packs are $11 on Amazon right now!

Sure they may lose .2% but they'll gain .5% from virtue signaling walruses known as feminists.

Since real feminists don't shave, I don't see how this works out for Gillette.

Immense Hirsute Lesbians are starting a 'save the fur' movement against Gillette!
45   Ceffer   2019 Jan 15, 2:39pm

Gillette is including instruction kits for auto-castration, sutures, and blood control loss with every pack of blades, now.

Male penance and penitence demand it! The Pecker is the Problem!
46   epitaph   2019 Jan 15, 2:41pm

Been using an Edwin Jagger double edge razor for 10 years now. I've probably spent less than $30 on Derby blades and Tabac soap in that time frame. I also use Bic disposables when I travel.

I'd have to think Gillette made a good reasonable priced product in order for me to boycott in the first place.
48   RWSGFY   2019 Jan 15, 3:13pm

Costco is now selling good quality 3-blade cartridges under their house brand. Made in Germany. 3 blades is a sweet spot imo. 4,5 or 6 are just silly.

And then there's this special member of the forum

Make sure to downvote the video. Of course, it looks like google has been removing dislikes.

I would LOVE to have a bug in the marketing and sales departments right the hell now.

Heh, Heh, a panel of hallucinating SJWs were given the Madison Ave. contract. They don't even know their asses from a hole in the ground enough to send out coherent propaganda. This ad will be yanked pretty quick.
57   MisdemeanorRebel   2019 Jan 15, 11:07pm

"Our brand was built on manly looking men doing manly things and women all rubbing themselves on them. We just destroyed decades of branding in a little over a minute."

Andrew Dice Clay crying on TV, anybody?
