Ah, the Republican two-buttons straw dilemma meme again. How about these labels for the buttons? "Judge actions 40 years ago by the norms and values of 40 years ago" or "Judge actions 40 years ago by the norms and values of today and punish like a recent offence"
Just like in the case of Kavenaugh, the person's long term track record and current behavior becomes important when judging character in the present.
I don't even know this guy and haven't yet read up on the current scandal. I just hate this type of political discourse that is so trendy.

I went to a pretty white bread suburban high school at the time with exactly 1 black classmate out of ~2000. Political Correctness was just starting to get a full head of steam, but "nigger jokes" were still a mainstay of those wishing to be edgy or shocking. By 25 or so, most of the same people had decided such jokes weren't cool after all and stopped using them. Now that they're in their 50s, it would be factually ridiculous, but perfectly reasonable by PC standards, to point to a 35yo picture of them doing racist shit in high school and declare them punishable as racists today on that basis alone.

Mark Herring is damaged goods also? How come?
I thought that was Northam who said that and was in the picture, not Mark Herring.
BOTH of them now - the current AND the next two in the line of succession have "Gender/Race" Issues. Gov. Northam in the Yearbooks, and now AG Herring, third in line, confessed he once tried to dress up as Kurtis Blow on Halloween. And of course Lt. Gov, #2 in line is facing sexual assault allegations.
