I do not have any information about what happened, so I am not placing any bets. The facts require investigation to determine what happened and why. There should be physical evidence to corroborate (or not) the accusations. For example, I don't know exactly how long 'bruises' take to appear in those circumstances, or whether he might have meant 'abrasions' instead of 'bruises'. The story does not sound like a misunderstanding, so someone did something wrong: either an attack or a false report; I presume innocence until more evidence emerges.
