Carrier Alert
The Carrier Alert Program recognizes that carriers can help monitor the well-being of elderly and disabled customers. A local sponsoring agency notifies the Post Office of persons who want to participate in the service and a decal is placed in their mailbox. Carriers will then be alert to an accumulation of mail that might indicate an accident or illness, and notify appropriate officials.

Hmmm, so you don't sign yourself up, a "local sponsoring agency notifies the Post Office" for you.
Creepy.
We have one of those central mailboxes on the block and are out of town all the time. So our mail does stack up, though never full.

From what I read in the USPS link, a full mailbox can be used as an excuse to raid your home.
Brain Fart: I wonder if a dead person registered to vote at the address? An unforeseen complication of mass voter fraud?
WTF is this? We got the image below in our mailbox. I can't discern if they're asking me to watch out for some neighbors or if we're being watched. Never heard of this. Anyone get this shit before? Just got the mail today and obviously PO isn't open.
