I had a theory that Congress would be getting younger with all the electoral upheaval since 2006. Wrong.

I guess the baby boomer surge overpowers all. As a young person, this does not give me hope.

And if you break down both houses of Congress, Senators tend to be significatly older than congressmen.

Well, you also have to be 25 to be a Congressman and 30 to be a Senator.
